Any coach who would bench a senior QB coming off a conference championship and a national championship appearance is an idiot. Nick Marshall played great in his time at Auburn and you don't upset the balance of the locker room when there is no problem with QB play.

Why throw him into the fire when you have an SEC championship winning QB that's quite capable of moving the offense?

Because you're going to have to now throw him into the fire with all of this hype hanging over him and your fanbase desperate to improve on 8-5.

Plus Marshall fit that read option offense a lot better than JJ did.

So gus is running a new offense now?

I wouldn't call starting a seasoned junior being thrown into the fire. That would've been the case if Gus started him as a freshman coming off a 3-8 season.

Yes, this offense will probably look a lot different than the past 2 years. Probably closer to 2009/2010. People forget that he had an offense at Tulsa that produced a 4000 yard passer. His greatest strength is his ability to adapt his offense to his players. The read option gave him the best chance of winning the past 2 years.

When this kid fails, we'll hear, "Well, he's just a first year guy . . ."

Obvious point here, the is only and will only be one Cam. I fear that JJ is being compared unfairly to one on the Mt. Rushmore of college QBs. I personally think the hype is unwarranted. He could throw for 3000 yards and rush for 250 and be considered lower than Cam. He could throw for 1500 yards and rush for 1500 yards and be considered lower than Cam. The comparisons need to quit now.

I predict he will be above average which is to say, he will hand the ball off, move the pocket when needed, and throw a good ball. Outside of that, this madness needs to stop.

Getting that hype like Cam did. Let's see what happens...

I didn't hear a ton of hype about Cam. We knew we had a transfer coming in late but I don't think anyone knew who Cam was until the LSU game.
