Let's be real. Football is on it's last leg anyways.

It will soon convert to some form of flag style

I really wish Bo wouldn't have sustained that injury. He is without a doubt one of the greatest American athletes of all time and my list includes Bo, Herschel, Tony Gwynn, Prime, Jim Thorpe, and Jim Brown.

But what the hell is a defender supposed to do if the ball carrier gets beyond his level? Give up on the play?

Bo played a contact sport at the highest level against the best football players in the world. Career ending injuries are going to happen even if you made it 2 hand touch or flag football.

And I might he a little biased. Horse collar tackles didn't become illegal in the NFL and college until my high school playing days were over. I maybe made 3 tackles that weren't horse collars or hip drop tackles. A slow, under-sized kid has to do what he has to do for his team and coaches.

I understand horse collars being illegal now. My skinny arse wasn't hurting anyone by horse collaring anyone, but bigger guys doing that could cause injuries.

The NFL has been nothing more than something to have something to have on in the background while I'm grilling or mowing the yard for a while. College football has been quickly osing its appeal to me since NIL/transfer portal. I haven't been to a college or pro football game since 2019.

I hate him as an announcer/commentator, but go back and watch any of the You Got Jacked Up clips from Chris Berman that would air before the MNF game and see how many of those hits would be penalties now, and none of those were hip drop tackles.

This will encourage the hair or weave tug to slow down the runner long enough for the tackler to catch up and make a friendlier tackle.

Problem with that is you can’t always go “up and through” from that angle. It completely depends on the angle of pursuit you are able to get as the defender.

The nannies might as well ban tackling altogether and have the National Flag Football League.

They would really clutch their pearls watching a rugby match.

Bo was tackled from behind running in stride and his knee dug into the ground causing the femur to bust through the hip

No other way to tackle from begins unless you swipe at their ankles or jump on their back

It is way past time. This hip drop roll tackle should have been banned three decades ago when it became popular.

Hip drop tackles have already been banned in rugby. So try again.

And hip drop tackles don't happen in hockey or lacrosse, so absolutely astounding job of missing the point.

Go back and watch the tackle on CJ Mosley in the infamous 1-9-12 game. That tackle dislocated his hip. There is a reason that tackle should be eliminated.
