Chase Young will probably end up winning it. OSU has a clear path to the playoffs and a couple of national TV games coming up to show his skills.

Of course, if Burrow has a spectacular game this weekend he has the inside track. He has to lead LSU to victory this weekend to win the Heisman in my opinion.

Burrow can win it this weekend. If Tua plays well and Alabama wins then he’ll establish himself as the front runner.

How much money did Vegas make on Trevor Lawrence at the beginning of the season.

It's basically become an award to bestow on the QB of the winningest team of the year. Not necessarily the best player.

The best 3 players in CFB are Chase Young from Ohio State, Grant Delpit from LSU, and Derrick Brown from Auburn.

I suspect if Tua out performs Burrow next week and Bama wins, those odds will change dramatically. On the flip side Burrow could all but wrap it up with a great performance and a LSU win.

Also, no way Derrick Brown is even close to as impactful as any of the candidates who play QB. Young is at least closer.

Those odds won't mean jack when he soils himself this weekend vs Nicky

True story - I’d rather LSU win a Natty than JB winning Heisman.

No one? Read my posts from last year. Clearly stated that Lawrence's WRs bailed him out. And that he would have been around 58% completions in the Natty game without those 3 circus catches from his WRs. Very over-rated. Big, strong... throws hard - but over-rated. Not accurate.

at this point, i agree. but he has to perform at Bama. he doesnt have to light them up or anything, but he needs to be serviceable

i know you're not an LSU fan, but Leonard Fournette was the odds on favorite to win the Heisman in 2015 going into the Bama game. He proceeded to run for 31 yards on 19 carriers, and didnt get invited to NY.

so...this one weekend will tell the tale

They mean quite a lot if one actually bets rather than just postures on a message board.

So if he has 350 yards passing and 5 TDs and no turnovers, but we lose because our defense can't stop Bama's rushing attack for some reason (had to assume Tua doesn't have big game), then he's out of it?

Can't imagine so.

Burrow is an NFL starter through and through. I love his game, but the best player in the country is Chase Young.

QB doesn't have to win every year.

Don't really understand why Vegas would put Burrow at #1 and have LSU as an underdog. If Bama wins Tua is going back up to #1.

More than a few books are a lot more exposed to Burrow given bets at huge preseason #s, and they're trying to draw non-Burrow action. More than a one book has mentioned it.

Someone explain why Jerry Jeudy is on this list? He doesn't even lead his team in receiving and is fairly low in the national rankings.

-Jerry Jeudy: 52 rec, 682 yards, 8 TDs

He is also behind two LSU guys (not saying they deserve to be getting Heisman odds).

-Justin Jefferson: 55 rec, 819 yards, 9 TDs
-Ja'Marr Chase: 43 rec, 749 yards, 9 TDs

Come on, really? I don’t know any LSU fans who think Delpit should be in the Heisman race. He’s probably not even the best defensive player on our team this year (at this point I’d say that would be Fulton or Stingley). His tackling has gotten very sloppy at times.
