I saw at least two SEC teams that did the latter, while some ranked teams kept their first string in just to run up the score and "look better".

Probably a jab at us, but Kelly played only 7 our 14 drives. It's not our fault that we scored a TD on each of his drives.

The other two QBs managed just 10 points on their 7 drives. Or I should say 3 -- we played our 4th string walk on qb.

These polls this early are useless....plenty of time to climb or drop...plenty of time.

While I agree they are useless, Is there plenty of time to recover?

In the East, Tennessee and South Carolina now have 1 loss and since Cocks were not in the first 2 weeks polls, a playoff spot is all but lost even if they run the rest of the table. Gators could run the table, but with no early poll love, they might get left out at this point. Kentucky could run the table and would never get enough love to get in. Georgia has a shot, but Missouri might be in the same place as Kentucky even tho they have had 2 respectable years.

I offer up 2004 Auburn as example.
Perfect regular season, won SEC CCG, and won Sugar Bowl and still never broke to #2 till after their final game. If memory serves, a big part of the argument on why Auburn never broke the magic ceiling was because they started #17 (AP) and #18 (Coaches) while Georgia and LSU were the top SEC schools early on that year.

While we speak 1 way, history may be the eye opener in the long run. Since the BCS began, how many teams were unranked in the preseason but got to play in the BCS Championship Game?

SEC in the preseason AP
#3 Alabama, #6 Auburn, #9 Georgia, #14 LSU, #17 Ole Miss, #18 Arkansas, #24 Missouri, and #25 Tennessee

SEC in the preseason Coaches
#3 Alabama, #7 Auburn, #9 Georgia, #13 LSU, #15 Ole Miss, #20 Arkansas, #23 Missouri, and #25 Tennessee

Here is a list of undefeated SEC schools currently not ranked.
Florida, Kentucky, and Texas A&M. Florida gets the best odds if they stay undefeated and Texas A&M will probably follow. If UK runs it, they will be TCU or Baylor and get left out. The media mantra will be UK is not a football school so them winning it all just means the rest of the SEC was that bad.

Not a jab at you. I was actually talking about ranked teams in general. I only watched a few minutes of the OM game because it was well in hand and there were other games I wanted to watch that were more exciting.

No way UGA moves up three spots off yesterdays performance. Not disrespecting my Dawgs but they would fit much better around 14 or 15.

Completely agree. I can't see how were in the top 10. I'm not sure who all I'd put ahead of us due to it being so early in the season. But, I feel like we should be in the later teens.

In the pre season. Was TAMU ranked in preseason 2015 in either poll? Did I miss it?

So many people so butt hurt about fluctuations, it's week 2, the poll is still a work in progress. It's less ridiculous than it was last week and next week will be slightly less ridiculous than it is now.

butt hurt? maybe you should read what I posted again..after you learn how to read.

Completely irrelvant. Making the top 2 is substantially more challenging than making the top 4.

A 0 loss or 1 loss SEC champion will always be in the top 4.

The only way the SEC champion is not in the top 4 is if the SEC champion has 2 or more losses, which at that point they may not deserve to be top 4.

dropping State & Tn out completely & leaving AU in is baffling to me.

Why? Auburn was #6 and, ugly as it was, they still won. MSU and Tennessee were barely in the top 25 and both lost at home. It's pretty hard to fall out of the top 25 from #6 after winning.

Ughh. Hopefully that JSU game doesn't happen again. Really need Johnson to step up and learn quick. I still have hope!

This is not the case at entirely. The SEC could easily have a one loss champion this year not get in. The conference looks like shite right now. Why the media picked Auburn I'll never know. A two loss SEC champion from the league like it was three years ago would surely get in.

: kige :

Look the playoff was intended to deal the PAC and B1G back in after the SEC and B12 had become the force of the BCS. While no doubt the Rose Bowl was a money train it was losing the role of determining MNC's as other bowls were getting the top teams. I do not see the CFP going past 4 as diminish the B1G and PAC once again.

B12 was divided and the SEC has all but been assured of never getting 2 teams in a future CFP. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Sadly, I agree.

I expect ND to drop hard as well as the season goes on.

I wonder if that is the steepest drop for a team after a win?

Don't know but it's a huge drop for a team that won their game.

There is no sound logic behind Missouri being ranked at all. The voters can't possibly be watching these games.
My humble opinion.
