I saw his defense in the second half vs Auburn. That performance, Sir, WAS horrible.
Don't just single out the defense... the offense was just as bad, which isn't exactly breaking news us.

It was the O's failure to finish that doomed UA in the Iron Bowl.

i can't quite peg my negative emotion about seeing these gay posters on their lockers... but i don't like it. it just seems below our level of play or... just shouldn't be a motivator.
It's called motivation.
They are up every week in the lockeroom. Sometimes they just make stuff up and put it up.
There is always stuff up in there. In the offseason between 07 and 08 they had the ULM and MSU scores up there. Between the 08 and 09 season the UF game was constantly being brought up.
I think we are always looking for that edge. I'd be pissed if they weren't using the 2nd half of the Iron Bowl as a rallying cry.

You still want him back though, right?

The O lost two games for us this year and very well could've lost us two more (Ole Miss and PSU). Hard to believe considering we were loaded with offensive talent, but it's not Jim McElwain's fault...

No, not really. It's true a lot of people in BR pine for Saban, but I'm not one of them. I am happy we have Miles.

You may have some good, thoughtful opinion, but your vendetta against Coach Mac dumbs down everything else we read from you.
You constantly bark about all this talent but fail to mention that most of that talent was injured for a good part of the season. You also conveniently leave out issues with the OL.
You also fail to mention that we have for three straight years put together some of the most prolific offenses in Alabama history.
Finally, it's been said over and over that if you want to fire Mac you mine as well fire Nick Saban. It's his offense as much as it is Jim McElwain's.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish by continously bashing him?

Do we honestly have to go through this again?
Just read some of my older posts on how lesser talented offenses such as Kentucky, Troy, Ole Miss, Georgia, etc. average more points against particular defenses than Jim McElwain's Alabama offense has.

My point exactly: if the offensive line can't open up a gap, THEN STOP RUNNING IT UP THE frickING MIDDLE ON EVERY OTHER PLAY! Build your playcalling around your talent level.

Who was injured? Mark Ingram? Yeah, we really needed him against powerhouse teams like San Jose State and Penn State. TR stepped in and did just fine in place of Ingram. And Julio? Didn't he miss a game and a half?

And I heard the same garbage about my anti-Shula rants. Oh how I wish I could go back and force the Shula supporters to eat crow.

The point of the sign has a lot less to do with Auburn and a lot more to do with Bama being complacent and not following "the process".
Surely you realize this...

If that were the case, why is it orange and blue, with a picture of two Auburnites on it right over the Auburn score? Why are there no references to the other two losses? That sign is 100% about Auburn.

So, to sum you up...
1. Because of one half of football, Nick Saban is a horrible defensive coach.
2. You'd rather have Miles as your coach because you believe he's a better coach than Nick Saban.
That's about all I need to know about how much to respect your opinion concerning football.

So, to sum
Tide fans need to get off their high horse. Miles and Saban are 2-2 head to head. One of Saban's wins was in OT, the other featured a blown call.
So head to head, it's not like Saban has blown Miles away. Because he hasn't.

LA Monroe beat Saban too... they're 1-0 vs him. Does that make that coach better than Saban?
Saban is a LOT better coach than Miles. I'm not disputing a record that can't be argued. And I give a ton of credit for Miles' win this year. HUGE accomplishment. Seriously.

I dont htink this is as much to do with losing to Auburn as it is giving up a 24 pt lead and losing. If this had been Penn St, LSU, or pick your team it is the same. No one needs to be motivated for the iron bowl. This was about not getting the job done not about Auburn.
Posted on 1/25/11 at 12:26 am to labamafan
labamafan, now THAT would make me feel 110% better.
you have got to be right. Saban is not a stupid motivator. good call.

If you can't prove it, it's just an opinion. And going by head to head records, it can't be proven.

I was never trying to prove it. you called me out for being high and mighty. Im not being high and mighty if my opinion is what most people think.
