UK was invited in 54' after an undefeated season, they declined. If you don't play in the tourney it is not an appearance.

of course the NIT was a bigger deal than the NCAA in 1944 anyway.

LOL at all of you attempting to have a penis measuring contest over your basketball history.

Mississippi State should have 3 more Tourney appearances and Kentucky 3 fewer. We won the SEC title in 1959, 1961, and 1962 but werent allowed to play in the tournament due to our racist governor who forbid any team from Mississippi to play against an integrated team. We snuck out of the state in 1963 defying the Gocernor and played in the tournament anyway after winning our 4th sec title in 5 years.
Ah the glory days of State basketball.

Alright, we get it...still, 2nd (by a large margin but still) historically only to KY in the SEC.
The fans miss it.

No, Alabama had to vacate their 1986-1987 participation because of some doings by Derrick McKey. The link to the Alabama media guide mentioned their vacating of their participation.
Don't know what else to tell you.
You don't have to say anything. I'm almost impressed by your intimate knowlege of Alabama basketball.

I'll just go by the wikipedia link that doesn't even cite the 1987 Alabama appearance being vacated among the 30 or so schools listed with vacated tourneys at the bottom of the link I provided. 1987 was the best team Alabama's ever had since I started following them so until I see the detailed violations that supposedly occurred I'm going with the official record of that season on most links. It's not that I'm doubting you I just need to see more than one obscure * on one link.

Making the tournament is better than staying at home.

Funny you laugh about this considering State had never even had a 30 win season.
All those bad arse SEC West titles and not even a Sweet 16 to show for it. At least you got some sweet banners out of it though.

It's interesting just how many great coaches on that list that have never gotten their team on probation or had significant NCAA problems have vacated tournaments on that list. There are a few Hall of Famers with impeccable compliance records that have a vacated NCAA tourney on there.
McKey was a high 1st round draft in that year's NBA Draft so maybe he had an improper contact with an agent during the postseason. That's the only thing I can even think of possibly happening. I'll give Missouri their 1 vacated appearance and UGA's 2 appearances back if it makes you feel any better.
Your protest over the 1987 appearance wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that Alabama is about to tie LSU does it?
