And here I was thinking football mattered about how many points you scored

A 14-7 game with 250-300 yards of offense a piece is much more entertaining to me than a 49-42 game with more than 1,100 yards of combined offense.

Um...isn't the HUNH just a new move on the chess board? New strategies in chess are constantly being discovered. None of them get banned (that I'm aware of). It's time for defensive coaches to make their move to combat it.

No...I hate the HUNH offense because, ever since I was little, football drew me in for one reason and one reason only: the strategic aspect of it all. I loved it because it resembled chess. The HUNH offense takes away that which I have loved about the game since I was a little boy. It becomes less about strategy and more about how many yards and points a team can rack up. That may be fun for you but it's not fun for me.

BTW, the bolded part if what the offense has tried to do since the beginning of time.

Because thats how your team likes to win.

Lets stop acting like this is more than what it is, this is about you protecting your way of life in a football sense.

I literally found the LSU alabama "game of the century" in which we lost more entertaining than the A&M Bama game from last year which we won.

Some people like to see hitting and a defensive struggle where every yard and play seem like it means everything.

If Alabama were to run the HUNH I would be EXTREMELY disappointed. It's now just about how MY team likes to win. It's how I have always preferred my football. I played defense in football, I love to play defense on Madden and NCAA, I have always loved defense.

No, I just turned the point against you because it wasn't a good one. This is akin to you wishing to say the night can only move 2 horizontally and up 1 instead of having the option on how the 2 to 1 ratio occurs because your favored strategy in chess is susceptible to the over 1 up 2 movement.

We don't want to play sissy azz ball, where the object is an UNSPORTING. " lets not allow subs to get them tired ".

Since teams as studied rarely snap the ball before 30 seconds, why should you sissies deny a team to sub?

Except that they change rules all the time in football. I don't think they have changed the way a chess piece can move in like 20 years.

I don't like it. Seems stupid to penalize a team for playing too fast. If they aren't substituting, then the defense shouldn't have to.
What they're saying in essence is the offense has the ability to sub whenever they want to because they control the ball snap, so the defense should have that right, too. It sounds reasonable to me. It's never been a problem, because the tempo hasn't been sped up for large segments of the game before.

Yeah, you missed my point completely. Chess is slow, deliberate, and involves skill and savvy. That's how football was for me when I was growing up and that's what drew me in. The HUNH takes skill and savvy out of the equation. If you can catch the defense out of position on every play because you're going 17,000 MPH there is no skill or strategy required.

Allowing the defense 10 seconds to adjust and substitute at least brings some balance back to it all, forcing the offense to actually think instead of just shoot.

True, but if he wants to bring in the chess analogy then its fair game. It's not as if someone is using a loophole. HUNH just changes the way you as a DC have to prepare and how you must think about the game being played.
