The D does have the ability to sub when they want. They just need to hurry and get on and off. They also can take time outs.

How about we just limit how many players Bama can blitz from now on. That is unfair to send more blitzers than offensive lineman. And unsafe to the QB as well.

Hence the rule change.
I haven't read this whole thread, so I am not sure if this has been mentioned. What if part of the rule change is ensuring that the refs are set as well? When you hurry up the game at an Oregon speed, there are a lot more mistakes that are missed by the refs. We are expecting 45-60 year old men to move at the same pace as some college students.
Side note, I was on google and I found this article of Ellis Johnson being against the HUNH. IRONIC

Yeah, that article has been posted a million times here. Great find...

Or limit how much a head coach can spend on the recruiting trail because he is willing to outwork the other head coaches?

blaming Saban is ridiculous.
the only way these lesser programs can complete is to make the game basketball on grass. let's get back to FOOTBALL

They are trying to to get back to football...arena football. And to think that SEC fans used to make fun of other conferences for not playing defense.

Saban just doesn't like not being able to sub in 5 star after 5 star. Well quit stockpiling all the 5 stars and maybe other coaches will quit try new ways to even the playing field.
Honestly I hate the HUNH and wish Ole Miss could run an offense similar to LSU and Bama and stay competitive. But we can't constantly recruit the type of players on both sides of the ball to rely on an offense like that. We would end up like Arkie under Bielema. It wouldn't be pretty.

Well we saw it just a few years ago. Hopefully this rule passes and we can see it again soon.

the HUNH is a gimmick. it's like the "quick pitch" in baseball. it's bush league and it's chicken shite. i hope they do eliminate it. line up and play football beatch. quit being a pussy.

Exactly, since Archie's time to Freeze taking over, and beside's Eli's senior year, we didn't have much success trying it the traditional way. That is one of the main reasons Freeze got hired. The committee knew we had to go a different route, regardless of wether they liked the style or not.

Same thing happened with the forward pass as well. While Blaming Saban is a bit ridiculous he has put himself out there as being against HUNH offenses so that's his own fault.
Hate to break it to you but offenses are running the game, look at the NFL and the "real men line up and run the ball" football isn't played anymore. NFL teams have stated there is zero reason to take an RB in the first round now due to how the game is played at that level. You are also seeing the move to smaller faster players at the NFL level instead of the big bodied guys who can break tackles. Mobile QBs are making their way into the game as well and the Brady's and Mannings are having trouble adjusting to the pressure the smaller faster teams are able to bring.
The game changes, that's life.

LSU manages to dominate spread teams on a yearly basis with their defense. Clearly it is possible and clearly you can keep up with the no huddle. The problem occurs in the archaic and slow communication of play calls and how teams like Bama make reads on defense.
Teams like LSU do a fine job of making reads and making play calls for defense. Why is it so fricking hard for the "best coach in CFB" to implement a system that works like Chavis'

In the NFL, the refs control the tempo of the game, not the offenses. Here is an article that discusses it: LINK [/quote&mg=reno64-wsj&url=http%3A%2F%2Fonline.wsj.com%2Farticle%2FSB10001424127887324809004578636300350207808.html%3Fmod%3Dwsj_share_tweet%5B%2Fquote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer">LINK

same response I had earlier, are you more confident with the refs controlling the game over the players? really?

This is college not the NFL. Don't know why other people are bringing that up.
There is no documented evidence that this is a safety issue. So until that happens, that argument is a crock of shite
To get to your argument of hiking the ball before the defense has made calls and alignments, why should that strategy frowned upon? Quick communications for play calls and alignment should be emphasized. Plenty of teams as I mentioned do just fine with it. I don't see why taking your sweet arse tie is preferred
