I'm pretty sure SW would not have allowed Smart (nor WW) options to return IF there was actual evidence.
I'm not in any way saying LSU has done NO wrong and won't be punished in some fashion BUT it won't be via proof of $$ changing hands.
LSU has been punished for far less as it pertains to NCAA.

If you think back to those days...the only highly recruited players were Wiley, Purifoy and Chuma. The Wiley kid is a legacy. Both Purifoy and Chuma were highly rated players but they weren't the type of kids that create recruiting bidding wars. Since the investigation we've landed two kids that might have those types of talents.
For all the weeping and gnashing of teeth by Auburn fans about our spineless compliance department I'd have to say this is another win for them. The NCAA basically accepted our penalties and tacked on a couple of small things to justify their time spent looking into the program. Nothing story!
