Former asst. coach and player Chuck Person was taking $ from an agent to steer players away from Auburn and to those agents.

I thought he was basically just the middle man to bribe Auburn basketball players/their parents to agents and business managers after they were done playing and received kick back payments in return.

NCAA penalizes Auburn basketball for Chuck Person violations

quote:

Person was arrested as part of an FBI investigation into college basketball that also resulted in the arrest of then-assistant coaches at Arizona, Oklahoma State and South Carolina. Person ultimately pleaded guilty and was sentenced for his actions directing payments to former Auburn players Danjel Purifoy and Austin Wiley and their respective families. Auburn fired Person after his arrest.

quote:

“Finally, the committee determined that the men’s basketball head coach violated head coach responsibility rules because he did not adequately monitor the associate head coach and failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance,” the NCAA said in its release. “Specifically, the committee noted that the head coach’s monitoring efforts were tardy or limited in nature.”

2 scholarships OVER THE COURSE OF the 4 year probation.

They already self-imposed 1 so they just need to take away another over the next 4 years.

When does the 4 year probation start? Does that include the last 3+ years of investigation?

Now it's coming back to me. Yeah I remember hoping this would help fix how shite the landscape of college basketball is but I'm not seeing it.

No. They camped out in Oxford and fricked our recruiting up for 5 years. We got off probation this time last year.

Exactly. They might send LSU and KU edible arrangements with little notes that say "thank you for playing along with our farce of an investigation <3"
