If I were a betting man, I would throw my entire life savings on Bama’s -4.5. No possible way they don’t cover that spread.
I haven’t watched one minute of BYU this year, but some of the stats I’ve seen suggest they are playing really good right now.. perhaps only bet your wife, not your kids

Experienced coach. Great track record with 3 elite 8s at Arizona and another at Xavier.

He makes it to the second weekend a LOT. Pretty good hire, imo.

I have. Their offense is extremely good. Defense is a bit of a sieve though.

Idk, I don’t really watch much basketball these days. Sounds like he should take us to a lot of Sweet 16’s with an occasional Elite 8 run, maybe reaches a Final 4 at some point.
I’ve seen a Barnes comparison a lot.
Good recruiter. Runs a fun offense. Good X’s and O’s. Has a lot of international ties..
We shall see.

BYU is one of those programs that is seeing a huge influx of cash from wealthy donors (cough, Jazz, cough). They’ve an NBA pedigreed coach making 4.3 million a year. Hell they dropped a tremendous bag, to the tune of 5 million on AJ Dybantsa this last cycle to get him on campus.
It’s early on though. Maybe too early to beat Bama this year, but I expect them to be very good in the near future.

Compare the schedules. Alabama has been thru a gauntlet. There is nothing BYU can throw at them, that they haven't seen before AND BETTER. The AU line is the one that has me scratching my head. 8.5 favorite?

IMO they're not that good bro.
Michigan is (literally) the luckiest team to be in the S16. A&M dominated about three-fourths of that game until they gave up a 20–5 run.
Interestingly this will be a rematch of Broome and Wolf (plus Goldin).
But all of their guards except maybe a streaky Gayle are overmatched by Pettiford, Jones, and Kelly.

Yeah, they did improve defensively over the course of the season but the best comparison in the SEC is probably Kentucky, as some posters here have brought up.
BYU offense is pretty elite. NBA style. 10 players deep and all space and shoot the 3 decently to excellent.
As a Bama fan though, BYU reminds me a bit of last years Alabama team too. Porous Defense over most of the season but started playing gritty enough late in the season to compensate for the lack of interior rim protectors.
The 4.5 point spread is probably spot on. Alabama should score enough to win a 95-90 type game but there will be a ton of possessions and one team shooting much better could steer it either way.

Torvik set the line at 4 and I think they pretty close. Anything can happen in March but I think the matchup favors Bama for the moment on the strength of having a markedly better D.

Cats and Vols for round three. Not sure how its gonna go but it should be wild.
Hard to beat a team 3 times. I also just realized we didn't have Butler for either of those games, and that was when Carr was having bad back issues.
Did you guys see Amari wearing the back brace when he was on the sideline against Illinois? I hope he isn't hurting either.

Of the three that followed Calipari ? I wanted Theiro to stay. He's a swiss army knife. About like Oweh now at Kentucky.
Would have loved to see both of them on the floor in blue.

He’s the key to us breaking down zones as well.

Wasn't that the John "Hot Plate" Williams team?
LSU's centers were hurt, and Dale Brown moved the 6'8" Williams into the post, where he was a man among boys.
