The NCAA would rather an athlete’s eligibility status depend on the whims of an NCAA committee that is beholden to schools with favored status.

Yall forgetting Trinidad has only played 3 seasons of college ball.
Did not play one single play his first two years.
Redshirts and Medical Redshirt

Players used to sit all the time when they weren't good enough, why are we now giving them medical redshirts for doing so?

What is your point? So Max is allowed to play 5 years excluding COVID year & medical redshirt (recently approved to play his 7th year). Trinidad is trying to do the exact same thing even if you count his "medical redshirt year".
2021 - 2022 (legitimate redshirt) - No Snaps
2022 - 2023 ("illegitimate redshirt") - No Snaps
2023 - 2024 - Ferris QB
2024 - 2025 - Ferris QB
2025 - 2026 - Ole Miss QB
2026 - 2027 - 5th Year
I think neither should be allowed to play & the whole thing is a joke but this double standard by the NCAA is insanity. Cam Rising was approved to play for 8 years. Pavia was allowed to play last year.
The COVID year has allowed so many notable players (such as Dillon Gabriel) to play 6 years. Yet a D2 player, who did not play a snap during the year in question, should not get the opportunity.

The point is Chambliss didn't play in 2022 because he wasn't good enough, not because of an injury.
That's the difference between Rising, Johnson, etc.

It isn't a double standard.

Five years to play five. No medical redshirts, no extenuating circumstances. If you can’t go pro after that time, thank the university that provided you with a free education and life skills.
He had tonsillitis one time baw. All rules go out the window if player get tonsillitis.

You can downvote him but he is correct. NCAA is by definition arbitrary and capricious in their decision-making for additional years. It happens in football. It happens in baseball. And basketball is what originally opened Pandora's box.
