Auburn fans, why would/did the university declare him ineligible? Sorry if I missed this detail.

What is the limited access that Cecil Newton will have to the Auburn program? I think he should at least be banned from contact with the Auburn program.

All I know is that my 6 year old has a cannon of a right arm, and can throw a nice tight spiral.

I'm thinking of starting up my own church very soon.

Is this true?

NCAA's reinstatement staff makes decisions on ind players based on SCHOOL'S evidence. Enforcement staff does its own legwork.

Of course he is cleared to play. You really think Auburn would lay back and let him be convicted with the chance of National Championship on the line? Of course not....that would just be insane.

NCAA: Cam Newton Is Eligible to Compete

According to facts of the case agreed upon by Auburn University and the NCAA enforcement staff, the student-athlete’s father and an owner of a scouting service worked together to actively market the student-athlete as a part of a pay-for-play scenario in return for Newton’s commitment to attend college and play football. NCAA rules (Bylaw 12.3.3) do not allow individuals or entities to represent a prospective student-athlete for compensation to a school for an athletic scholarship.

So guilt is admitted.

And the decision is no penalty.

It's like a guy pleading guilty to murder and being sentenced to community service. Typical NCAA bull shite.

Guilty , without penalty. WHAT IS DISTURBING IS THAT THE AU FANS ARE PROUD OF IT. tHEY DONT REALISE THAT IF THEY DO WIN A nc , IT WILL NEVER BE RECOGNISED. OH SURE , IT WILL BE IN THE BOOKS, WITH A HUGE ASTERICK. And Auburn fans ,you are insane if you think youve heard the last of this. All it has done is bring further shame to the AU program, and they are PROUD of it. The NCAA can and will ,change thier minds as many times as they want. What makes the AU fans think its over?

The worst football team "I've seen in many a year" was wearing crimson in the second half last friday. You're lucky you're bowl eligible playing that crappy.

Either I'm slow or they are retarded...probably both. What exactly did they make clear about his behavior not being tolerated?

Well after NCAA Pres commented today it is obvious there is nothing more to come in the Cam case concerning play for pay with MSU, Cam and Cecil.

No vacated wins, no loss of eligibility, no DEATH penalty, no loss of scholly's, no loss of Bowls.

The only thing that won't be cleared up will be the wailing and moaning of SEC Ranters, Joe Schad, ESPN, TMZ, Pete Thamel, Thayer Evans, W&L, blueTunaTiger Thread worshippers, and all the others who were hanging their careers on this deal.

I will say that Cecil Newton was found to be working with a recruiter with ties to MSU, but no proof was found to suggest Cam knew what his father had done. There is no money trail to suggest MSU indeed paid Cecil nor was any found to direct attention that Auburn had made payments of kind. There is no rule to keep Cam from playing at another college just as what happened in the Means case involving Bama.

NCAA Pres statement suggests their hands are tied and he will insure rules and by laws prevent this from happening again. I am not writing this to discuss the moral issues surrounding this case, because there are some involved. I am merely writing what has taken place and what will not take place in the coming future concerning Cecil, Cam, MSU, and Auburn.

If other evidence arises showing impropieties involving other parties than something could arise from that. However, it is highly unlikely that anything will come up. You may pin this, save it, sticky it, or frame it, but this is how I interpret everything that has taken place.

This post will please those who agree and will cause negative replies from those who wish for bad things to happen to Auburn and Cam. You can disect it, bring up other links, rehash, but none of it will change what I have written in here. Have a great evening I am off to a poker tourney wish me luck....LOL

Kenny Rogers typically charges for his agent services. If Cecil didn't have to pay for his help, then how is this not an impermissible benefit? Rogers said on the radio that he did not ask for money. That was on national ESPN radio. See the Rule below:

12.3.1.2 Benefits from Prospective Agents.
An individual shall be ineligible per Bylaw 12.3.1 if he or she (or his or her relatives or friends) accepts transportation or other benefits from: (Revised: 1/14/97)
(a) Any person who represents any individual in the marketing of his or her athletics ability. The receipt of such expenses constitutes compensation based on athletics skill and is an extra benefit not available to the student body in general; or
(b) An agent, even if the agent has indicated that he or she has no interest in representing the student-athlete
in the marketing of his or her athletics ability or reputation and does not represent individuals in the
student-athlete’s sport. (Adopted: 1/14/97)

So Kenny gave free services (which = Other benefits) to Cecil Newton (Cam's relative). End of discussion. Ineligible.
