re: Medical Insurance Doubled

There is going to be enough pain this year that the policy makers are going to have to do something. Yet to be seen what that something is. Honestly, i'm completely on board with a public option for everyone if they were previously on the ACA. Just let them buy in to Medicare and let's roll. That seems like the easiest fix there is.

I don’t care

It’s not an addiction it’s literal lack of self control.

If it's just a lack of self control, why are people alcoholics? Are you saying you think alcohol is designed to be addictive? I don't like alcohol personally...but I drink socially where appropriate. Why do people smoke weed if they might lose their job? Why would people ever freebase heroin?

Your logic isn't logic'ing broseph.

That said, you missed the point of the post. Food is inherently addictive. So much so, in fact, that people are willing to kill other people for food when it's not available. We are driven biologically to eat and drink as a mode of survival....and that's the point. You can't escape food and if your body craves it, even if you don't require more calories to survive, then there must be something else going on. Hence the food addiction comment.
quote:

We have to stop pretending like eating is an addiction.

Name another pleasurable activity that turns in to an addition where you're required to still do it in order to survive?

Smoking - nope
Drinking alcohol - nope
Smoking weed - nope
Smoking crack - nope
Really any hard drugs - nope
Having sex - nope

This is angle I see few people think about but has a massive impact on this discussion. All those other activities turn in to "addictions" when you abuse them. All you have to do is stop doing that thing and you can cure that addiction.....but not eating you have to continue to do it to survive.

If they will not walk, you walk them.

Flawless victory.

No.

Good grief.

Turn the whole Healthcare over to the government. What could go wrong?

Do you somehow think that medicare is proving the actual healthcare? They are just paying for it. My mom and my inlaws both use it extensively...they see normal doctors.
quote:

You beat me to it.

"Nobody thinks Medicare is a bad program." Yeah, they do. The people who need to get paid for the medical services they rendered think it's a bad program.

And again I return to the triangle of price, quality, and availability.

Increasing Medicare might mean improving price and availability, but to the extent that it does that, it also means decreasing quality.

This is something we're going to have to talk through and it's going to be tough for both parties. It might mean that doctors don't make $300k+ a year anymore. The number of doctors in the US is artificially constrained to keep earning/market place value high. Honestly, I think that's why you're starting to see more and more PAs and NPs out in the real world.
This seems like a super simple solution...no? Allow the people using Obama care the option to buy in to a rebranded version of medicare. Call it Trump care premium or whatever. Would we not be better off than throwing millions/billions of dollars at the current ACA? Everything is already in place. I haven't talked to a single person on medicare that thinks it's a bad program...
Help me out guys. Why is it a bad thing the narced on JE?

Dr. Mingo, which medical school did you go to?

Go speed a couple of weeks in the UK and you'll understand how terrible our food supply is. Everything is packed with sugar here.

whats crazy is , these 2 meds above are listed as a potential threat in many prescribed meds especially in newer fda approved meds. Dangerous stuff.

I am seeing that people are now taking a weekly dose indefinitely to hold weight down. Don't need know if this is bad. I know with type 2 patients it helps so why not non diabetic folks?

They should make weight loss in a pill for life like a BP pill.

Google Orforglipron
Somebody that has already had a vasectomy needs to marry her up just for the keks.

No it doesn’t, your weight loss does

So you're a medical professional now on top of being a manlet?
I've found that going to the barber for a beard trim is more about shaping than trimming. My beard gets completely out of hand if I don't maintain and shape it at least once a week.
What's amazing to me is how few people know how easy it is to buy a house. GenZ could have a house by they time they are 25 with a little discipline. With all the down payment assistance and FHA programs out there...not to mention the rural development stuff. It's stupid easy.

BTW - I didn't buy my first home until I was 28.....and we did it on a shoe string.
She's def in the danger zone on the crazy hot scale.
I think the problem is that we all know it's pointless in 2025 and yet we still do it. So the frustration continues.
Started blue collar, transitioned to white collar via sales. I could go back. Don't want to at my age but could certainly do it.
Graphs like this cause the young to vote democrat. Math is hard bros.
None of them do great with riddles....yet. It won't be long.
