So when the NCAA is onto the Tennessee program, they're ridiculous Nazis. But if they're looking into us, they're completely justified?

The NCAA is slimy. Very bad people. No checks on their power and they do not even try to mask their biases and agendas for/against certain people and/or programs. We all know what USC has been able to get away with while Pete Carroll has been there. Smoking guns aplenty in the Reggie Bush situation but hardly a second glance from the NCAA. Tennessee was made of teflon when Fulmer was there, for some reason. Again, smoking guns in the Tee Martin thing, yet nothing came of it. Well, except for the vilification of Linda Bensel-Meyers, who was merely trying to do her job, which was to uphold the mission of that institution. Now that the smarmy brat dirtbag Kiffin is coaching at TN, it seems the NCAA has a different attitude toward them. What comes around, goes around I guess.

While the NCAA is a bunch of slimy bastards, Tennessee is as sorry as they come. I used to work for that institution and had personal dealings with many in their administration and athletic department. I can tell you those are some of the sorriest people I've ever met. Fortunately for TN, President Petersen is no longer there. I have no doubt that if the NCAA wants to find something - and something serious - there's plenty to find at TN.

I don't know how it works, but before a high school athlete can play or be recruited in college sports, he has to be eligible by NCAA rules.

If a high school student signs a contract or accepts money from a booster or accepts rides for free to visit colleges, or accepts perks from certain colleges (like pretty party girls), he is hurting his eligibility.

To play NCAA sports, which all colleges do, you have to abide by their rules. That's just the way it is.

I guess the NCAA has the right to make sure that the kids are not accepting benefits that they have ruled illegal.

If the kid or his parents don't want to cooperate with the NCAA, that's their business, but it would probably keep the kid from playing his sport at the next level.

This is what happens when you have a guy like Lane Kiffin bringing all sorts of negative publicity to your program.

Gather all your incriminating evidence, burn it, and then lawyer up. Never, ever cooperate.

It looks like y'all are finding out, like we did, that the NCAA doesn't exactly follow the good ol' USofA's laws.

i don't think the ncaa is too worried about much, especially a wee warning from a supporter of the school they are investigating.

Tennessee fans are finding lots of people to blame this stuff on:

quote:

Pete Thamel – College sports reporter for the New York Times

Connor Ennis – Sports department staff editor, New York Times

Chris Dunkley – Pahokee football prospect being recruited by Tennessee and Florida

Ariel Alejo - Pahokee principal, Florida Alum, Gators fan

Urban Meyer – Head coach, University of Florida

Yesterday a Florida fan jokingly said Kiffin would blame it on Urban. Someone else did it for him.

quote:

While the other players and/or their families were willing to talk about what they discussed with the NCAA and were generally complimentary of Tennesse, Dunkley refused to discuss what he told the investigators. Dunkley happens to play for Pahokee High School. The same school whose principal, Ariel Alejo, tried to ban Tennessee coaches from recruiting his student-athletes. This was after Tennessee Coach Lane Kiffin made statements to the press that he didn’t trust the way things were done in Pahokee regarding the recruiting process, insinuating that they tried to steer players towards Florida. Of note: Ariel Alejo is a Florida Alum that has a good relationship with Urban Meyer and is known to be a huge Gators’ fan.
-oh yea, let's blame this on a high school kid and his coach.

Pretty sure thats what happens when you're putting a defense together. You try and poke holes in the evidence. Who in their right mind would just roll over and die for the NCAA? Just ask Bama. Not saying they were/are guilty of anything but they fight to the end as well.

The father is pulling his son out of classes 4 months early, because he is graduating early...how is a few minutes out of class going to matter when he is being pulled out of class from janauary to may

Volnation is trying to hold on to one of it's commits involved in TailGate:

quote:

possibly the top coaching staff in the world, learn the defensive game from Monty Kiffen, If you plan to go to the next level. Having a defence education under Monty and offense from Lane Kiffen has to be worth a lot of money. they will always have quality coaches like big Ed Orgeron. Information helps make decisions. This decision will influence the rest of you life.

Is this guy really calling out the NCAA? His son will be ruled inelgible. Everyone that has ever poked at the NCAA (except Ron Polk) ends up losing. I've been begging for Kiffin to pop off to the NCAA.

Graduating early and being pulled out of classes from Jan-May are two different things. He is completing his coursework and is no longer has to attend from Jan-May. With that being said it has to be around finals time for the kid, even more reason for the NCAA to not pull him from class.

Yes, that is the only concern for TN fans in this entire matter.

Pulling kids from class and interviewing them without their parents presence or permission

First the NCAA can't pull anyone from class. Schools can do that. Second, NCAA is not part of any law enforcement agency. Therefore, parental notification is not required, if the student is willing to be interviewed. Finally, it's not the NCAA folks up on Rocky Topless should be worried about. The members of Orange Pride were paid by the university and these girls employees of same. Hence, if there were any sexual services provided to any recruit that would make these young ladies guilty of prostitution and the university guilty of pandering (pimpin' for you younguns).
Now have Lane and these parents go frick with NCAA over some interviews.
