Lots of chatter that Freeze wants the UTK job.
I'm OK with Napier, Chadwell, or Beamer. All three have been in the state, and all three have quietly shown interest in the job. Freeze really hasn't.

I really don’t think Freeze is on the list. It’s definitely Napier’s job to lose at this point.

Feldman has already floated it out there that Freeze is waiting on VOLS job to open up

Tennessee is a lost cause.
Go discount and consider 7 wins a miracle season from here on out.

I'm good with this. Everyone remembers Freeze beating Saban twice and forgets that he was 5-7 his last year there

I saw someone say that SC has great facilities. I think that most SEC facilities are on average better than many in the country - because the teams are making mad money off of the SEC Network.
I think in "just the SEC" they are more middle of the road, and maybe better than average. And it doesn't help that Clemson up the road has some of the very best. Public opinion matters, and Tennessee definitely has more to "offer" for a coach. They just keep screwing it up ...

Napier will be a flop in big boy football. So I'm okay with him ruining any SEC team, other than mine.
to whoever takes him.
to whoever takes him.

Why do you think Napier will flop?

Tennessee is willing to "look the other way". Freeze will recruit like a madman there. He landed a top 10 class (or was it top 5) at freaking OLE MISS.
Tennessee will immediately become a top 10 recruiter under Freeze, and probably top 5. He's scum, and I hope TN won't sell their souls for some wins in football, but I really don't have faith that they'll make the right decision. He'll win a lot of games there.

Yes by all means go to work for a guy who wants your job and will stab you in the back. On top of that a rabid fan base with unrealistic expectations. Sounds like a wonderful opportunity.

He just hasn't really done anything. He moved around A LOT as an assistant, OC, analyst, etc. He had some success here and there, but there is only really one year at Clemson where he had any success as a main contributor. He immediately followed that up with a season so bad as OC, that he got fired.
Now he has a good record at ULL. Ok. So what? So did Mark Hudspeth, and nobody is clamoring for him. Guys who have success at nobody schools and then fail at big schools are a dime a dozen. His ego seems over the top too, compared to his track record. He's "waiting for an opportunity that's good enough for him". Reminds me of Chad Morris in that regard.
I just don't see anything in him that says he's a top coach. Seems pretty average. Scott Frost, Mike Norvell, Justin Fuente, Matt Campbell, Chris Klieman, Todd Herman, PJ Fleck, and on and on it goes. They all struggle to make the jump, and nothing about Napier says he won't too.

Lets see.
Holtz is 83. Do you expect anyone not named Bill Snyder or Joe Pa to be coaching at 80+? (Don't answer this Bama fans...)
Spurrier is 75 and coaching on a golf course somewhere in FLa.
Muschamp has only been departed from SC since Sunday. He pocketed a cool $13 mil to be a F up in Columbia. Not bad work if you can get it.
Now do the same for Tennessee's coaches since 2000....

Agree with much of what Hogfan13 is saying. I do think Napier would have SOME success, but I think 7-9 wins is the ceiling. Some years will win 7..really good years 8 or 9. And I just dont think Carolina fans are going to accept that and they shouldn't.
If they want to win at the level I know they want and start competing in the East, then Freeze is the only hire to do that. Period
Additionally they should consider that if you dont hire Freeze now, he will likely end up on your side of the conference in a year from now, and now you are faced with recruiting and competing against the guy.
This likely puts your ceiling at 4th or so in the East and on good years 3rd.

The idea that we're still content with 4 6-6 seasons over a 10 year period or some shite is ludicrous.
I'll have to take your word for it.
But, the evidence seems to be:
8-4 <- this is ok
7-5 <- this is ok
5-7 <- this is ok
but next season, by God ...
Btw, 6-6 does not qualify one for a mid-tier bowl.

Naiper beat Freeze head to head when the Cajuns played Liberty last year.

I hear you. Not a terrible point. But Freeze was playing with low grade FCS talent last season, and was in his first year. This season would be a different story I suspect.

Tenner has killed nearly every head coaching career it has touched for 20 years.
