The Geaux 25/7 post got me thinking about LSU's talent this year in the 3 big sports. I think when all is said in done, we will look back at this year and think how incredible it was for LSU to have all 3 of these athletes on campus at the same time.

Football: Leonard Fournette (Buga)

quote:

One of the top players in college football and he’s just a sophomore … Already listed among Heisman Trophy candidates for 2015 … Listed as a preseason All-America candidate heading into 2015 and has been called one of the top 15 “scariest players” in college football by NFL.com … Came to LSU as one of the most touted players in high school football … Didn’t disappoint, setting an LSU record for freshman rushing with 1,034 yards and 10 TDs … Dazzled college football fans with a series of head-shaking moves a year ago, which included bowling over a Texas A&M defender on his way to a 22-yard TD; leaping over a wall of Florida defenders from the 4-yard line to score a TD; a 360-degree spin move that left a would-be Florida tackler tackling air; or the shoulder-lowering boom that drive a Gator defender five yards deep into the endzone …

Basketball: Ben Simmons

quote:

The No. 1 ranked high school player came to America three-years ago and prepped at Montverde Academy in Florida, winning three straight National High School Championship honors under Coach Kevin Boyle … Two of those titles came in 2013 and 2014 with present LSU guard Jalyn Patterson … In the 2015 finals at Madison Square Garden, Montverde finished at 30-1 with a win over No. 1 Oak Hill … Simmons had 20 points, 11 rebounds and six assists and was named the MVP of the event after averaging 19.3 points and 11.7 rebounds for the three games … Was named the Naismith National Boys Player of the Year, Gatorade National Male Basketball Player of the Year and the Morgan Wootten Award … These awards recognize athletic play as well as character, leadership and classroom and community activities … He was also named a McDonald’s All-American and to the Jordan Brand’s Classic game …

Baseball: Alex Lange

quote:

Lange went 12-0 as a Tigers' rookie, with two wins and four of his best performances of the season coming in the SEC Tournament semifinals, NCAA regional Super Regional and College World Series games. The Missouri native finished with a 1.97 ERA and struck out 131 batters in 114 innings. That led to a bevy of SEC and national awards: National Freshman Pitcher of the Year by the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), SEC Freshman of the Year, first-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, Baseball America, NCBWA and Perfect Game.

Unfortunately for Ben Simmons, he's going to be coached by Johnny Jones.

Sam Houston State. Clearly that TD run was his toughest run of the year.
