Historically, Auburn is the agricultural school. It is more attractive to the rural folk, and thus more conducive to "redneck" culture.
Alabama was the old money school. It is more conducive to those near cities.
While Wallace's stand-in at Alabama is well-known, Auburn has had many more racial incidents since then. The more sophisticated and educated are more likely to be near cities, be tolerant, and attend UA.
The more uneducated are more likely to be of the "redneck" persuasion, have a bigoted and xenophobic tendencies, and be intolerant of those who are different.
It explains Auburn's attitude towards Bama fans versus the other way around. Auburn is more redneck, and more bigoted towards fellow humans.
It explains why Alabama has a significantly higher African-American enrollment than Auburn, whose is borderline disgraceful for a large state school in a place as racially mixed as Alabama.
These are all undeniable, verifiable facts. You can see them in everyday life throughout Alabama.

So we're back tracking to George Wallace days?

quote:Here we go with the race card. Just go ahead and post "Auburn admissions office is racist".. It'll save you some time punching in extra characters to hide your point.

UA,T does not have a medical school.

It is the University of Alabama School of Medicine.
Not the UAB medical school.
The class is split into thirds, and one third go to the main campus, one third to Huntsville, and one third to Birmingham.
Look it up, bro.

Alabama is morally inferior, they have careers like LAWYERS who take people's money, and you can't go by any of those academic ratings because they're just magazines.
LMAO.
LMAO.

Well I'm engineering so we run circles around bammer. They are good for slimy lawyers and claiming a med school in Birmingham. And it is true that bammer is stupidly easy to get into.

You don't find it odd that the statement you're most at odds with is one person's trip they took?

Well in 2008, as I was walking with some friends to the stadium we were swarmed by large group of LSU fans.
They started the "tiger bait" cheer as we began a "war eagle".
Then things got testy and some pushing and jawing went on back and forth. Luckily it ended with out any fights.
It was like two opposing teams bouncing up and down at midfield during warm ups.
As you can see in this video (taken of the same guys we encountered) that they are assholes. LSU gauntlet in Auburn
BUT I loved damn second of it because that what SEC football is all about.
Its not a manners contest.

I know it goes without saying, but you do realize auburn grads go to alabama's law school right?
Just like i'm sure that there is a vet or two who did his (yes his...we can still agree that women shoudn't be educated, right?) undergrad work at bama.
I kind of jumped some pages in this and feel i missed the part where folks stopped goofing around and started actually thinking the educational value of either school as anything to do with the distain we share for one another.

The main campus of the School of Medicine at UAB is located in Birmingham. All students complete their first two years at the main campus in Birmingham. The remaining two years can be completed in Birmingham or at one of two branch campuses in Tuscaloosa or Huntsville.
The med school in Tuscaloosa is no more Tuscaloosa's school than Auburn's HSOP branch in Mobile is USA's.
There are two medical schools in the state: UAB and USA. You can complete some of UAB's curriculum in Tuscaloosa.

Tuscaloosa also has the "real" Walter White.
Tuscaloosa may "have" him, but the mugshot is too tight a shot to show the huge Auburn logo on the front of his shirt.

ETA: I figure that while some people are getting all serious and bent out of shape over this thread, some of us may as well have some fun with it.
