Yeah, it got pretty loud, especially for certain parts of the second half. Not much sustained noise, but it had its peaks.
I was referring more to pre-game festivities, on-field traditions that get the fan base going, etc. I didn’t see much of that, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it didn’t happen.
We definitely had a blast and will be going back
We tailgate hard and cheer at the games. That is our traditions.

Compared to some SEC schools, we don't tailgate that hard.

To OP: glad y'all had fun in Columbia. Come back and visit again.
It's always obvious to me if a ranter has actually been to Mizzou for a gameday weekend because if they are shitting on things like tailgating and gameday traditions, probably fair. If they are trash talking the city, the fanbase, or the campus, I know they haven't actually been to visit.

Agree, I was very impressed when I was there. You can always know for certain the message board people that talk shite about columbia have never actually been there.

CoMO is solid. best columbia in the SEC by about 1000 orders of magnitude

CoMo is a lot like Fayetteville in that its a good place to visit but even better place to live. Really nice area, lots to see and do, good healthcare... it also lands in that sweet spot in terms of population.
It has enough people that everything you need is going to be there, but not so many people you feel stuck in a big city.

I agree. And I think Fayetteville might be the most underrated town in the whole country. I would love living there, all the Hogs aside. You are surrounded by some fantastic natural scenery. Y'all need to tell people to stay away and that it's awful so it doesn't get overcrowded.

That is a load of baloney. The biggest difference is that it is very spread out on campus. Been to many of the SEC sites and nobody tailgates noticeably more than us.

I also made the trip and enjoyed every part of it. Mizzou is an underrated college town and experience. I'm sure this has a lot to do with them being stuck between the South and Midwest. IDK if they have a true identity but it was a great visit either way. Overall great place to visit and would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of making the trip.
The biggest highlight was the people, their fans were really awesome and very hospitable. This is also with their team actually being good and having the confidence to win the game. I think this is an important fact because if a team thinks they are going to lose either way I think fans are generally nice.
For Example:
- When asking where the best place to park a Mizzou fan gave me an extra parking pass they had without any hesitation.
- I had a fan walk up and just want to give me suggestions on places to go eat and bars to go to and told me where they would be on Gameday. Sure enough on Gameday I walked past their tailgate not necessarily looking for them and out of the blue they yelled my name and found me. They made sure we had beers and food before entering the stadium.
-After the game we went to Shakespeare's Pizza (Which was delicious) and it was hard finding a table. A Mizzou fan went out of his way to make room for us to sit with him while we waited for our pizza. I ended up staying and finishing my meal with him.
I think no matter the beauty or prestige of a place what makes an experience great are the people and the Mizzou fanbase really showed out in that department. Proud to have them a part of the SEC family!

I will also add my two cents about the hospitality of the fans at Mizzou. Everywhere I went, from the STL Airport to bars & restaurants in CoMo were first class. I also went to Booches and Shakespeare's downtown and both were good.
I was invited to a tailgate over by the Hearnes Center and on the street between the lots, the tailgates were set up so close to the street, it made me really nervous someone would accidentally step into the street. It was really crowded there, but friendly.
After the game we went to Southside pizza and the traffic wasn't bad at all. Cheered for the Astros and again, more friendly people.
I've been to every SEC stadium now, including Jackson, Birmingham, and Little Rock and this was definitely the best trip.
Your fans were loud and I heard enough MIZ...ZOU that I could recite it in my dreams ha ha.
The only negative was the traffic on I-70 was brutal from STL Airport for almost 30 miles.
Thanks and hope to come visit again.

As weird as this will sound... I think a good amount of the appeal of Columbia and Fayetteville is that the Walton family, who have close ties to both towns, are big on civic donations.
Fund a park or a civic center? Sure. Here's a few million. Knock yourself out. The little quality of life things really change a place from being a nice place to live to a great place to live.
Fayetteville is just a nice place to live. You can raise your family there. Sure, it has a few bad parts of town. But you can spend your life there and be happy.

Yeah, there's not much seething hatred there.
Even Jrv2damac is swaying over to Mizzou.

I agree and would add. Great seats for cheap. I feel like they expected to lose but who knows. Tiny place. But was easy to get in and out.

Also forgot to add that with my ticket I was given a wristband that got me free hotdogs, popcorn and a drink. I was amazed and thought that LSU would crap themselves if they thought they had to give out any free concessions to fans.

The ONLY thing I don't like about Columbia and the University is that the stadium is not more convenient to the nice part of campus and downtown.
The one thing I DO like about Columbia is that for a stereotypical college town they have things for adults to.
For someone like me you can hit the rowdy college spots and be the weird old guy in the bar, and then you can walk a couple of blocks and be in a fine dining establishment and sit down with a bunch of old school blue haired snobs with not a college kid in site.

We used to have a rowdy tailgating scene in the 80s and 90s at a place called Reactor Field, but the powers that be ended it.
They love to shut down fun stuff. LSU has two large Indian mounds that kids use to slide down and play on and they put up fences around them so nobody can climb them

After walking on College Avenue toward the north once, I don’t even want to look in your direction if I can help it.

Maybe go to an actual playground instead of messing up an archaeological excavation project
Those mounds are probably millennia old

I guess over time you’ve earned the “weird guy that showed up one day and never left, so we tolerate him” award.
But man, everyone wonder why you’re here.

Kind of weird. I went to a Mizzou game and a Chiefs game when I lived out there.
Chiefs game felt much more like an SEC gameday atmosphere than a Mizzou game. Tigers weren't in the conference at the time. But I was really impressed with the KC Chief fans. Been to a few other NFL stadiums and that was the closest to a Saturday experience as I've seen.
