Why? It's Tuesday, and I just had my 3rd cup of coffee.
First, just a warm shoutout to an SEC team outside looking in on the top 5 All-Time SEC list. This one is for Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, he would know exactly what I'm talking about.

This is wrong.
There is hardly any objective ranking system that would not have UGA as the 2nd best all time program. If you really wanted to get into the weeds you could make a case for LSU, but at worst it'd be an LSU/UGA tossup. Tenn, who for decades was an ironclad #2, is now #4 at best.

I don't find Georgia anymore riveting under Vince Dooley than the Cholley Mac regime. A very underrated part of LSU history. Cholly Mac beat everyone but Coach Bryant. Dooley did recruit Walker, and that is his claim to fame. Tennessee is just too strong historically to be bested by Georgia. You do enter ahead of Florida, though. Just because you mattered before 1990.

If you truly look at all-time and apply no recency bias, the OP is probably pretty accurate. Of course, that also requires you to only look at each school's SEC time or Oklahoma (and maybe other newcomers) would definitely belong in the top 5.
I would argue a little recency bias is required because 1930s and 1940s championships are not the same as championships this millenium.

UGA has 15 conference titles, not 13.

This is data I pulled in October of 2023:
Recognized National Titles
UGA/LSU - 4
Florida - 3
Tennessee - 2/3ish
Auburn- 2
SEC Titles
UGA - 14
UT - 13
LSU - 12
UF/AU - 8
All Time Wins
UGA - 868
Ten - 867
LSU - 833
AU- 793
UF - 754
Bowl Games
UGA - 61
Ten - 55
LSU - 54
UF - 48
AU - 46
Bowl Wins
UGA - 37
Ten - 30
LSU - 29
UF - 24
AU - 24
Weeks ranked in AP
LSu - 649
UGA - 645
UF - 644
UT - 603
AU - 602
Weeks at AP #1 - NOW OUTDATED
UF - 41
LSU - 38
UGA - 37
Ten- 19
AU - 9
Overall Win Percentage
UT - 67%
UGA - 66%
LSU - 65%
UF - 63%
AU - 63%
Keeping in mind that all of the above is one entirely full season (2024) plus a quarter of another (2023) out of date, we'd need to also understand adjusting for modernity that:
-UGA's lead over UT in SEC ttles has grown
-Our lead over them in all time wins has grown
-Our Head to Head wins over them continues to grow
There is TRULY no way any rational thinking person with a straight face could even halfway content that Tennessee is a better "All Time" SEC program than UGA. None.

Regarding Tennessee, I think this is a case of Appeal to Tradition bias, having be considered second best for a long time.

Tennessee only has 2 legit titles

The list is All Time. Bias about one's SEC football tradition is what I'm doing.

All-time stats will do that. Tennessee's history is as legit as Michigan's or Ohio State's. Certainly, Georgia as well. It tells a story of incredible success and fear that ranked supreme in the SEC for decades. From General Neyland back, they were a problem and held up their end of Southern football in a world that traditionally honored the Northern schools. Forever in the South, it was BAMA and Tennessee, and it's not biased to simply state history or tradition as it unfolded for decades.

Put it out there, Cajun. I'm not running from a conversation about all time. If you think your boat will float past Tennessee, make a case.

I try to reason out historical places with wins and championships of a kind. Appealing to the number of weeks at number 1 or how many Heismans are in the bank is just nonsense and misdirection.
Southern teams lost a lot of the popularity contest during the bowl era of college football and frankly, beyond. That included rankings and Heismans and many other honors.

individual shite like most heismans, most #1 draft picks, most All Americans, etc...those don't mean a hill of beans to me. Because they aren't a reflection of the team and PRGRAOM, they're just how good one particular dude happened to be. So I'm with you there.
Weeks ranked at #1, weeks ranked, etc...those are TEAM accomplishments and very much factor into this. Oh which btw, UGA is better at UT in both of those too.

And contrary to popular opinion around these parts, Millennials didn't invent college football. So the way back machine is very much a part of SEC tradition with this BAMA fan's all-time SEC list.

My All-Time Rankings which is a metric based on historical success but weights more recent success a bit more ranks the programs like this, listed by national ranking and points achieved in the rating system.
1. Alabama- 1,293
3. Oklahoma- 1,023
7. Georgia- 664
8. LSU- 660
9. Texas- 657
14. Florida- 559
16. Tennessee- 532
17. Auburn- 472
22. Texas A&M- 294
25. Arkansas- 264
26. Ole Miss- 251
36. Missouri- 175
52. South Carolina- 108
59. Mississippi State- 90
63. Kentucky- 72
75. Vanderbilt- 12
Georgia is ever so slightly ahead of LSU and Texas due to a recency bump. If you take out the bonus points for recent success, Texas ranks 8th all time, LSU 9th, Georgia 10th.
