Success improves recruiting, when the Gators start kicking arse again under Mullen the recruits will come. I think this is the fear all the knowledgeable haters have and is why they continue to bash Mullen while they can.

The uninformed ranter just bashes him because he is the head coach of the Florida Gators.

Both had better be afraid, very afraid. The Beasts of the East are coming for you.

See this type of thinking confuses me, how in the hell are we supposed to win and have great success without great players? If you can’t recruit great players you can’t win at a high level. This is a never ending circle that is just BS. You can either recruit or you can’t. Didn’t we just go through this with Mac? Notice he never won enough to land a great class? That’s because he couldn’t recruit and neither can Mullen.

CNS didn't have an extraordinary first year at LSU and had an abortion of a first year at Bama, but turned each second year into a monster recruiting class.

Recruiting and talent management are arguably the most important facets of success as a college football coach. That is what truly separates CNS from the rest. He keeps bringing in talent on top of talent. His vision, process, and staffs he surrounds himself with only add to the value. But, talent comes first.

In his own words to Mal Moore after being hired at UA:
quote:

“Do you think you’ve hired the best coach in the country?” the 55-year-old Saban asked Moore.

By this time, with Moore’s agonizing, month-long quest to pry Saban away from the Miami Dolphins having finally come to fruition, the AD was feeling a bit punch-drunk. He still didn’t know his new coach very well, still found him hard to read.

“Why, Nick, of course I do,” Moore said, while thinking to himself: For $4 million a year, I sure as hell hope so.

“Well, you didn’t—I’m nothing without my players,” Saban said, locking eyes with Moore. “But you did just hire a helluva recruiter.”

Recruiting was never a problem for Richt...and now that he is down in the fertile So. Florida area, he will reel in more talent for Miami.

Winning the big games, on the other hand.....Meh.

I expect a mass suicide from the UF fans this year. Never seen such a doom and gloom bunch of people.

2 terrible coaches, and a 3rd one that’s struggling to recruit, will do that to you. Especially when you get used to winning championships. We want to win, and that starts with recruiting.

In terms of keeping the very best in the state of Georgia in Athens? That was a problem for him. Richt was in top 5 recruiting ground and most years finished 6-15 nationally.

Mullen will produce at UF, or he won't be around for long. UF is like Alabama in that respect, and it's not a coincidence that since there has been a title game, Alabama and UF have won more SEC titles than any other team.

I hate Florida, but I will give the Gators this: They don't make the interim head coach the permanent head coach.

They did....Once. Resulted in more probation and bad days until Spurrier arrived. Or maybe I am wrong. Wasn't Galen Hall an interim that got promoted?

Based on 3 or 4 of the most negative gator fans I've ever witnessed?

I assure you, most gators in real life that don't lick windows aren't gloomy.

Good time to cull out the band wagon Florida fans, Spurrier and Meyer's success brought on a lot of these fair weather fans. I hope they all jump ship.

this is always so misunderstood. Was he a good recruiter? Sure, he was "good". He would routinely pull in a ~10th ranked class which on the face of it doesn't sound like a problem. But the actual problem is that 3-4 other SEC teams per year would finish ahead of us. A "top 10 class" kinda loses significance if it's only 4th or 5th in your own league. And we were attempting ot compete with the bama/AU/LSU of the league, all of which routinely recruited similarly or often times much better than us.

So I would argue Richt did have a problem recruiting well enough. Not to mention the fact that while he was solid with skill players he left us woefully understocked along the OL.

The problem with this is everybody has a different definition of "big game", For some it is a game against a ranked opponent. For someone else it is a conference championship. Somebody else says it is a playoff game and then another person says it is the National Championship. but more often than not, most will say it is whatever game the coach has not won. After a certain game has been won it was not a big game.

Before this past year, our game with Notre Dame was a big game. After we beat them (And some will still say) they were not very good.
Then it was the Eastern Division. Once clinched it was no longer a big event. Then it was the SEC Championship, but that was not big once Georgia won it. After the Rose Bowl was won it was not a big game, and when we got beat for the National Championship...."SEE? Georgia can't win the big game!"
