There are several different GI Bill packages available for Active, Reserve and Guard components. They work independently of tuition exemption.

So instead, of that money can going towards tuition, it can go to registration fees, lab fees, books, random frick in the arse fee, rent, hookers, debauchery, insurance, utilities, food... But, you can't get too carried away with the hedonism. You must still have to enrolled to collect the $$$. Ergo, if you party your way out of school that revenue stream goes away.

If you live a modest to Spartan lifestyle, with the GI Bill + tuition exemption + college student jobs, you can through an undergrad degree without taking on student loans.

Post 9-11 GI bill is pretty fricking great for active duty types that did at least 5 years. It pays for everything and includes a monthly living stipend.

Let me guess.....you must be a weekend warrior.

How about something to back that up?

The Air Force and the Navy have annual competitions for their pilots for bombing ranges. The Reserve Squadrons always out perform their Active Counterparts. In the Army and National Guard, the experience level of most units for their pilots was about 4 times that of the AC (that has change due to the issues talked about). There are other MOS and Career Fields that have similar data.

PS There are no long Weekend Warriors anymore. Which brings us back to the original issue.

Idiots in the Guard can't get into college. Empty gesture.

Do you realize about half of the Air Force and a good percentage of the Army are staffed by Guard Units?

Hey, I just got out the Corps with a RE code of 4. My girlfriend gave birth to twins when I was in county lock up and I'm tryn to come back in. What kinda bonuses y'all got? I'm a need something over 30k to pay back my bondsman.

Also I want to keep my rank (I was an E-3.) choose my duty station, and get a new job where I can work with dogs. If you don't give me what I want I'll go to my congressman and my friend's uncle who is a Kernel in the Air Force. TIA.
