That's what annoys me about Guardsmen and why I call them loud mouths. I just can't relate to it.
They seem to be the ones with the UCP graphics on their truck windows, wearing their grunt style t-shirts, running their mouths on social media, and loudly asking for discounts. It triggers the frick out of me.
It annoys the shite out me also.

..and to be fair it annoys me when AD folks do this too, and they definitely do it.
There's a good, all services subreddit for it: /r/justbootthings

Was stuck in that dreaded ARFORGEN cycle for five years at Riley. You left out the fencing. What's that? You just redeployed and want to PCS?...oh it looks like your unit is already on the patch chart again and you've been fenced
I get it totally. Had PCS orders to Hood after I got back from my first deployment. Unit was deploying in a little under 9 months. It was better to reenlist and stay put where you were while both OEF and OIF were full blown.
I went crying to my Battalion SGM and he didnt let me down. Called branch and got me out of it. Most folks will never understand how few US combat arms maneuver brigades there really are now
That OP tempo was insane from 03 to around 09.

This is really cool.
But, USM, and Jackson St and Ole Miss will be following shortly.
MSU simply got first right to the Memorandum of Understanding for some a variety of reasons, mostly political. Great thing the state of MS is doing for their Guardsmen.
It is a very similar program to those in place in Alabama and Tennessee.

Good move on your part, you would've gotten fricked even worse down there. Hood was awful about that First Team! Nobody PCS's bullshite. They had a CG delay several brigades' worth of Officers' PME after a deployment to retain them for the next one. It fricked everything up across the Army.

Ok, one of my best friends is a career Armor officer in the SCNG, also not a bad state for it.
Please don't take everything I'm saying too much to heart. Much of what I'm saying is banter and based on the absolute worst examples of guardsmen I've seen, because that's who I notice and who sticks out.
We have outstanding Infantry, Armor, ADA, and FA in the state. Everyone one of those units has deployed at least 2 or 3 times since 2003. As far as your comments about the Guard....its all good man I understand what you are saying and the things that annoy the shite out of you, annoys the shite out of me and I'm in the Guard.

My buddy is a cav officer in the FLNG. He went through some weird version of OCS and is currently on a 9 month deployment to Korea with 3ID after spending 9 months in Djbouti in 2016.

I have heard that before. Once you go Hood there is no coming back....
I think all those BCTs were like that back then. I was in a SBCT at Lewis during my deployments. I enjoyed it but we were an above ground unit my second deployment and we got a tour of all the hot spots where "guard" units couldn't properly handle thier AOR.
That 101st DUSTWUN search was painfull in 07.

OPTEMPO is only going to raise as Compo II and III units will be moving to a 3 to 4 yr deployment cycle.
Demand on the Guard and Reserve are raising significantly. Further, readiness and meeting deployability standards will apply equally across all components. There will me a huge exodus over the next 12-18 months of active, guard and reserve soldiers that do not meet physical and medical reqs.
I've only been active duty and strictly in light and airborne infantry divisions, so I had my own set of biases on the guard and reserve Soldiers. However, I had the opportunity to work closely with them for about 18 mos and it changed my perspective to a large degree. They are proficient as they can be for the trng opportunities they have, for the most part. Plus, their leadership has an incredible problem set managing a civilian job and all leader responsibilities that go well beyond one weekend a month. Now, with the pending increase in deployments and readiness standards, it further stresses their civilian professional progression. Absolutely a problem I am glad to have avoided.
So, programs like free education are critical for recruitment and retention.

Probably deployment hunting on purpose.

Isn't everything on the Korean Peninsula 2ID? Hell, the division headquarters is there.

Pretty sure he volunteered for it. He spent 6 years going to FSU and has some boring job in the admissions office there.

I've known several enlisted and officers like that. Not a bad way to open up opportunities that sometimes wouldn't be there in their own units.

Used to be, now they're rotating units in and out to improve readiness.

He's at some place called Camp Hovey and wears the 3ID patch on his cammies.
