The day before basic graduation when all the boots buy cheesy t-shirts, get shitty tattoos, slap retarded bumper stickers on cars, and spin yarns about how tough their "time" was.

I was a space shuttle door gunner in the civil air patrol. I seen some shite man.

I joined the guard when I got ETS out of active duty.
It's a stark contrast that people that have only served in the guard can never understand.
I respect anyone willing to put on the uniform. There is a difference between the Gaurd and active Army. Big difference

Never been in the Guard and never will be.
Guardsmen have been both some of the best and some of the worst Soldiers, specifically Officers, I have ever served with.
I've seen AR/NG units that were woefully unprepared and got tore the frick up and I've seen ones that were shite hot. It entirely depends on the state and the particular unit.
Obviously the real world is shades of grey and I also respect anyone that serves, there's also a smaller gap today between the three components than there's been in the past...but I'm still going to shite on the Nasty Girls any chance I get. It's all in the game mayne.

Oh I understand. I want ready to not wear the uniform but was tired of the OP tempo of 12 month deployment. 11 month dwell time with a rotation to JRTC or NTC and another 12 plus months downrange. Rinse. Repeat.
I felt guilty during our first Class A inspection at my guard unit after I got there.
The thing that got me is a lot of these Gaurdsmen volunteer to go to parades, sporting events flag waving bullshite.
When I was on active duty NO ONE wanted to ruin their weekend with that shite. Soldiers were ready to get out of their ACUs for the weekend and forget the life. Mother frickers were volontold you're going to such and such event and it was like getting kicked in the dick

We did slay a lot of bodies that one time when we were on astroid team 6.
For those who don't know, that is like seal team 6, except better.
We don't get calls too often, but when we do, we know it's game time.

That could be applied to any branch (Active, Reserve, Guard, etc)

Training in the Guard has increased over the years. More MUTA's, NTC/JRTC rotations, and deployment rotations.

Was stuck in that dreaded ARFORGEN cycle for five years at Riley. You left out the fencing. What's that? You just redeployed and want to PCS?...oh it looks like your unit is already on the patch chart again and you've been fenced.

That's what annoys me about Guardsmen and why I call them loud mouths. I just can't relate to it.
They seem to be the ones with the UCP graphics on their truck windows, wearing their grunt style t-shirts, running their mouths on social media, and loudly asking for discounts. It triggers the frick out of me.

Are you in the Georgia NG? If so, from my understanding, you're in one of the better States.

I could get you in if you still are avoiding the MS13 peeps.

Ok, one of my best friends is a career Armor officer in the SCNG, also not a bad state for it.
Please don't take everything I'm saying too much to heart. Much of what I'm saying is banter and based on the absolute worst examples of guardsmen I've seen, because that's who I notice and who sticks out.

The bugs man, they just wouldn't stop coming. Sometimes, when I close my eyes, I can still hear the screams.

Bowl is 21 which makes him too old for the Corps.
