Exactly what you said. I bet they don't let their 5 stars from every state they get every year know what the term on the helmet they are wearing means. That's SO Old Mrs.

quote:Now to deny that the term "Ole Miss", regardless of its actual origin, (I know the train story and the part about the slave owner's wife), is and has been an issue for the school would be totally disingenuous to say the least. Your former Chancellor tried to do something about it and that was one of many reasons he came under heat. Go find the 30 page PDF of the Ole Miss plan for diversity. It all but calls itself a racist culture that needs to change. I found it when all the Dan Jones stuff was going down.

ETA - it's way bigger than 30 pages. Must have been updated since the Jones' tenure.

Since you're so smart and know everything, what do you think the percentage of those folks knowing the meaning of that term is? Surely Old Mrs educates them on the name of their school and it's meaning once they get there right bud? Oops sorry you aren't my bud I know!

You're a liar. The meaning of Ole Miss is exactly the same as the meaning of Ol Lou and Ole Mizzou, and dear Old Penn, just different states. Ole Miss became known as Ole Miss at virtually the exact same time as all of those schools gained those nicknames. Ole Miss stuck, the Mizzou and Penn parts stuck, and Ol Lou faded away.
Anyone who claims any other origin is a moron or a liar. In your case, it seems to be both.

nothing involving the state of Mississippi is the least bit interesting.
Tell that to V&S and every Vols fan on this message board? Because it seems to be VERY interesting for him/them, down to some of the chicken finger brands found at our tailgates...
