Cannon ran the ball, passed the ball, punted the ball, returned kicks, AND, on defense, played corner, safety, mlb, and in goal line gap 8 alignments, he was the nose guard... And could run 10.0 100 in his football uniform. Start chiseling...

i don't really understand why Cannon is praised as one of the greatest.

He was pretty damn good on both sides at the time. He also has one of the most storied returns in college football history.

ETA: He most likely in his prime could still be a star in todays game fwiw. Dude was a legit athlete.

Not based on how the game was played then. Dude was one of the best.

ETA: You cant discount past vs present on these type of things, but I stand by what I said. He could play in todays game in his prime

Herschel
Archie
Tebow
Bo Jackson

It was long before my time, but video and stories of Lee Roy Jordan make me wish I could have seen him play in person. The 4 above are the best of all time for me

Yeah I agree with spurrier over Dodd. Spurrier really help change the league from an offensive set.
Plus Dodd's records wasn't all that great , 1 national title , 2 SEC titles in 21 years.
That's not really that impressive. Spurrier has had a lot more success.

Spurrier has 6 SEC titles and is a 7x SEC coty. He has to be on there for coaches.
