ESPN is paying UT $300 million for the Longhorn Network. That's gotta figure into the equation.

I know what it is. It's just funny that a month ago people thought they would be the ultimate addition to the SEC. They never sell out and they don't make any money. Up until this year, they hadn't even been good in ten years.

WTF with Texas? Hard to believe they are almost twice as valuable as the next group of schools.
I think they get oil and gas royalties from a producing field under their practice facility...
...or some shite.

Surprised Bama's not higher than it is. I usually see it listed near the top of most lists accounting for fan base size, and football budget/revenue.
EDIT: I noticed one of the criteria is the size of nearby large cities. More understandable now, especially if they split BHM with Aub/Bama.
They also look at stadium size and student body size. I think this is based on 2009 figures as well which was before Alabama officially added 9,800 seats and about 3,000 more students. I'm not sure if the study takes into account those updated numbers.

The evaluation also has Texas at a peak. They sold insane merchandise after their NC win and through their NC appearance a couple of years ago. They can't sustain it though. I live in Austin and have already been hit with 3 promos for half price tickets this year. They also have been on the right side of unequal revenue sharing and the LHN. Don't get me wrong, Texas is still the most valuable school but the gap is exaggerated. They won't be able to sustain the profitability they have put out the last few years.
Looking at that list also makes me very excited about seeing how much A&M's value will increase moving to the SEC!
