re: Most obnoxious SEC fanbases

i can dig that... generalizing is tough to do well and be fair all at the same time. i would have to disagree respectfully about our expectations during Dubose and Franchione and Shula....

we went 3-9 once with Dubose 4-8 once... i think we were 10-3 once with Dubose (1999 obviously)... and maybe another season around .500 then the scandal broke with his affair and then albert means. next, we land Franchione... which was one HELL of a hire for the situation we were in... we did have good reason to believe in our program with him as our HC, but no one sensed that we were gonna be national contenders. after he left, Shula... came and that history is recent enough for anyone to remember.

during this time frame, i can guarantee you that our expectations FAR exceeded our end result each year... save for the 1999 SEC champs season, and the 2005 10-2 cotton bowl champs deal.

and even though we may have verbally saidout expectations were realistic, i assure you... they weren't. we are Alabama. to most of this state, that means "God is an Alabama fan."

i can admit FREELY to thinking that IF God were a football fan, that he'd most surely be a Bama fan. (i still think it... it's sad i know.)

The UF fans I've seen haven't really been obnoxious. LSU fans are obnoxious because they talk shite with the best of them.



UF fans tend to be very awkward when they try to talk shite. I always get the "awww.....well, at least he's trying. Let's put this one up on the refrigerator for everyone to see......I'm so proud of you."

LSU has some of the most obnoxious fans around... We also have some of the dumbest ones, the most division 1 coaches, offensive and defensive coordinators, and fair weathered pussies... We also have, and by a far margin, some of the most hospitable fans you could ever find... So pick your poison

Pretty much every fan base in the SEC on this thread has agreed Bama is the most delusional and aggravating fanbase.

Obnoxious is up for debate since LSU fans can be Jeykle and Hyde (depending on how drunk and whether it is tailgating or game time), but Bama holds their own here too.

And AU fans only get rated highly from dumbass gumps, so that is a plus for AU IMO.

Alabama....all the way...this is one number one place they might not want to claim....all you have to do is look at the number of Bama posts on this board on any given day...

I don't really get bothered by opposing fan bases, whether I'm attending games in Fayetteville or I'm at an away game. Most people are there to root for their team and nothing more. Once in a while, you get a few drunk rednecks that like to heckle you for wearing opposing team apparel, but that's easy to get over.

What cracks me up are all of the "toothless redneck" jokes that SEC teams like to slap on each other. It's something we all have to come to terms with in our lifetimes - If your team is in the South Eastern Conference, then your fan base is comprised mostly of rednecks and/or rednecks in denial. This is true from Arkansas all the way to Florida.

So maybe I find the most obnoxious fan bases to be the ones who are telling the most redneck jokes that week.
