Also, the Auburn/A&M this year where Manziel was horsecollared on a play he otherwise would have scored on with about 30 seconds left.

If I remember right didn't that ref actually give him a forearm shiv?

Ok so I wasn't remembering it correctly.

Here's the video. LINK

He didn't actually "tackle him" although he did impede his movement (by getting in the way and eventually hitting him) long enough for an LSU defender to make the takedown. What gets me is how the ref took four or five steps directly toward Garcia and then planted to make the hit, like he was having a flashback to his Linebacker days or something.

...but none of that matters. In my mind I'll always remember it as a grave injustice; a ref executing a WWE takedown of Garcia to cost us the game, yea that's what happened. Damn refs.

The SEC had to make sure us and Alabama got to Atlanta undefeated.

LSU fans still talk about the 2004 game with us where we tied it with about 1:30 left and missed the extra point. But there was a flag for them going over top the center so we got a re-kick and won the game.

Funny thing is Saban was the one who got that rule put in the year before IIRC

It wasn't...

The camera angle on TV makes it appear good, everyone in the stadium says it wasn't...

I don't see the horsecollar.

It isn't about grabbing the jersey, its all about grabbing the pads.
AU could have easily been called for unnecessary roughness more often,
especially during the Fairley-pocalypse, but that particular pic isn't incriminating.

Oh really? You've conducted interviews and taken statements from everyone in the stadium?

See if you can find the call by the late great Paul Ells, he was saying it was no good too, IIRC, but I don't lose sleep over it.

Arkansas still won the division, but Ms. State had the easier schedule and the tie breaker.

What about the poor Ole Miss fans throwing bottles and shoes and shite after their receiver went out of bounds then came back in making the catch and the refs called it back. Awesome.

You must love to feed trolls.

Dale is trolling too hard. Bait is just too shiny.
If he would just stir the pot a little he'd be way better off.

Oh well. Some never learn

Exactly, and when the jersey is grabbed it separates from the pads. Thats actually what refs are taught to look for. In the Manziel pic, not only is the jersey not being pulled away but the defenders hand is clearly inside the pads and depressing them. It's a textbook horsecollar.

The player who is being tackled also reveals the correct call most often. Players being pulled down just by the back of the jersey dont go down in the typical horsecollar manner with their legs rolling up under them.
