While everybody's in the whining and gnashing of teeth mode I'll mention the worst and most damaging call of last night's game. Georgia's last TD was a gift. It should have been 1st down at the Bama 17 after Hardman stepped out of bounds. This game should never have gone to overtime. Bama actually won this game in regulation by a touchdown.

There’s no angle that shows him over the line. As close to the line as you can get, yes. Over, no.

Idk man... I just dk. If there is no green, then he’s touching white. If he’s touching white, he’s out of bounds.

Eh who cares. It ended up being a great game. In my mind, it would not have changed anything. It's not like we didn't get some things go our way too.

UGA fans aren't complaining about the refs, so LSU fans have to step in and do it for them. Complaining about the officiating after a Bama loss, it's what LSU fans are good at.

Actually, the worst was the offsides call when GA blocked the punt.

ETA: I don't have a dog in this fight. It was a damn good game.

Hell, I know this. It became obvious half way through the third quarter that the longer the game went, the less chance Georgia had to win. Never should have gone to OT though if the officials had made the correct call in one of the most crucial plays.

What nobody seems to have noticed and I may be wrong about the rules of football. He was out of bounds when his back leg swung around and hit the Alabama player who was out of bounds already. Am I correct? Everybody was looking at his foot and the out of bounds and not his other leg which clearly touched the outpf bounds a may player.

It was a false start by Bama that they missed on the blocked punt we should have been re-kicking anyway.

So the game should've ended on a 1st down from the Bama 17 in the 3rd quarter?

You don't have to be over, just touching. If you can't see any green you're out. Doesn't matter though. UGA was almost certainly guaranteed at least 3 which would have meant Bama kicking a field goal on 4th and 4 from the 7yd line instead of scoring a TD. With the way Papnasty was kicking that might have worked out way better for the dogs.

This is what I was thinking during the game but just assumed that’s not how it worked since no one else mentioned it lol

Same here. but here is some logic for debate.

Bama fans have countered that the Bama player was offsides on the punt so the play would have been dead anyway. The call was that UGA player was offsides which replay showed to be false. This negated the blocked punt. You cannot assume that the Refs would have then called the Bama player offsides as that call was never made. If you do make that assumption then you have to use same logic on the game tieing TD where Najee Harris was offsides but was not called. The refs must have meant to call it but did not...

Therefore you are correct that the UGA player offsides on blocked punt was one of the most significant referee errors.
