Ignoring historical success, is Maryland really a step up from A&M in 2025?

College Station vs the DC metroplex might be a culture factor and who knows what the situation is for him as far as booster and AD relationships.

To be honest the path to elite success is much easier in the B10 vs the SEC right now. He could be a top 15 national coach and not be top 5 in the SEC.

Maryland is a basketball school. Buzz should take that job.

I wonder if we will lose Buzz at midnight. BCG to Kentucky, and Turgeon to Maryland both broke at midnight. An old tactic used to minimize backlash by releasing it when everyone’s asleep.

Why would Willard leave and where would he go?

There has been a rather public riff between him and the school admin/money people. He wants a bigger financial commitment to compete, they've been dragging their feet.

It is speculated by a bunch of people in basketball circles that he has an offer from Villanova on the table. Being that Nova has yet to fill its coaching vacancy it is probably true.

Last reports are that he’s gonna leave, or that’s the feeling inside the building. That’s why the Buzz smoke grew today. They are already running Maryland beat writer articles that Buzz would be an upgrade to Willard. I don’t know Willard, so who knows.

Rumor is that our AD is already talking to all of the unpaid assistants with no head coaching experience on Buzz's staff. He's also interviewing the players to see what coach they like the most and will hire that person. This is his approach for all coaching hires now that Earley has done such a great job with baseball.

I chuckled at this
