Look you know more about OU's situation than the rest of us but based on your posts in this thread you have some thick Red and white (are those your colors? or is it Scarlet or some BS?)glasses on.
I get it, I'm an LSU fan and I believe that our defense will be decent next year and our offense will only take a small step back and we will be in the playoff hunt. Anyone looking from the outside probably thinks those are crazy expectations.
BUT
The idea that a good starting QB ran away from a guy who I assume is currently on the roster (if he's an incoming freshman then your take is even dumber than I originally thought) and didn't beat him out this past season is crazy talk. Even if the backup was really good, most coaches don't risk removing a good thing for an unknown. Even if the unknown COULD be GREAT.

And everyone has Joe Burrow/Cam Newton just waiting in the wings. Just ask LSU fans, Nuss is basically Burrow.
Why would I ask an LSU fan about QBs? We've had stacked QB rooms here for a couple of decades while you were still looking for one that could complete a forward pass. We still do. texsa fans have been waiting for our QB play to fall off forever. Ask them.

You do realize LSU has had 2 Heisman QB's since your last one...
Sorry Lincoln isn't there anymore to pump those out. He's doing that at USC now.

Why would that be "crazy expectations"?

Except when it's not. Gabriel was brought in because we wanted veteran leadership out there and he already had command of the offense moreso than the young cyborg. It's not complicated.

We must not know anything about QBs here at Oklahoma.

How have Wanya Morris and Eric Gray done for y’all? Just curious

This was an odd situation at OU this year.
According to reports, Jackson Arnold was basically the equal of Gabriel in spring and fall camp. Gabriel got the nod due to his experience. The word is that Arnold is simply a more gifted passer than Gabriel. But obviously hasn't done it on the big stage.
Gabriel thought he was going to enter the draft. Got negative responses and was likely to be UDFA. Got a really big bag and a promise of a starting job at Oregon. OU had been planning for him to leave the entire time. Had he stayed, there would have been a QB controversy. He left because he knew it would be better for him and Arnold.

Now OU's fans are trying to pull the Ohio State thing and claim QB's after they throw you in the trash like yesterdays cooking

It’s really not complicated if you know anything about OU’s team. Gabriel is a good player. OU has a 5 star QB, Jackson Arnold, who backed up Gabriel this year. It was expected Gabriel would be moving on this year. He’s played 4.5 years of CFB. Arnold isn’t sitting behind him another year.
People look at Gabriel’s stats and didn’t actually watch him play. He’s a good guy and good player, but he under throws the deep ball consistently and while he has a nice completion percentage, he misses a lot of intermediate throws. Whether Arnold lives up to his potential, no one can say.
But if you know anything about college basketball and the NBA, the senior in college basketball he put up big numbers is still in college for a reason while the 19 year old 6th man with one year of college experience is getting drafted top 10. It’s the same principle with Gabriel and Arnold. Gabriel hit his ceiling. Arnold has the skills to take you further, but remains to be seen if he actually will.

Caleb actually started at Oklahoma dipshit. I'm sure you have painful memories of that.

They just want to fill in the blanks with their own narratives even when you tell them what's going on. It's hilarious to watch.

And then left y'all to follow Lincoln. Then proceeded to win the Heisman.
Trying to claim a Heisman for a guy that left your team is flat out embarrassing

I didn't claim a heisman. You're filling in the blanks again. I said he would've won it here too.
BTW....that was a makeshift Oline you faced in Dallas this year full of newbs, too. How'd that work out again with those NFL players in your defensive front?

OU was paying players long before NIL. They're just bitching because now everyone can do it.
