I agree. LSU was a solid quarterback away from something special. They didn't have to have a Andrew Luck, RG3, etc. type guy. They just needed someone who was a "legitimate" quarterback that was efficient.

ETA: Offensively, I felt like LSU was ending the regular season on fumes. Aside from the Ole Miss game, LSU had glaring offensive problems (mainly quarterback issues) that were covered up by Tyrann Mathieu punt returns and awesome defense.

I agree with everything you said.

It was really Bama's only impressive win of the season

Incorrect. Bama won 12 games this year. The closest a losing team came to Bama was 16 points. Everyone got beat by 16+ points. That type of dominance - regardless of opponent - is impressive.

Bama embarrassing lsu in the Natty is way more impressive than a fluke 3 point win.

I agree that the BCS NC game was much more convincing...but you are an arse if you call any win on the road a "fluke" in the SEC, particularly at BAMA this year. How did you feel in BR this year after all the Hogs talking so much smack?

By the way hogbreath...how did your double beat down by both BAMA and LSU feel:)

LSU beat Alabama in a very important regular season game and then Alabama embarrassed LSU in the national championship game.

A game which Bama fans, LSU fans, & the national media all thought was an elimination game for the BCS title game. Everything had to fall right for Bama to get a rematch.

ETA: I'm referring to the 11/5 game in my comment.....perhaps a better question is how impressive would the 11/5 win look if OSU or another team gets the nod over Bama for the title game and Bama destroys an opponent in the Sugar Bowl?

I think LSU going on the road and winning in OT (when at the time that game was the defacto NC game) might be as impressive as Bama blowing out LSU in a rematch on a neutral field for the BCS Title.

Amazing how after the Bama molestation of LSU in the dome, that is no longer LSU's back yard but rather a neutral site.

is more impressive than winning the game in the superdome when clearly one of the teams was not interested in a rematch.

Shows how little real heart that team had. If you are not interested in winning a NC because it was such a burden to have to play the best team in the country, yall should have just let Okie State play in the title game. Hell, that would have probably been an interesting game to watch at least.

Wrong again. The first game was for the drivers seat to the SECCG and very important, the other was the BCSCG. BCSCG >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than a game played in early November.

Do you have a mental disorder that removes reality? EVERYONE was talking about the generally accepted principle that IF LSU lost game 1 close we could maybe sneak into the Natty given the difficulty of the schedule and the fact that we were playing on the road.

NO ONE was talking about Bama getting a second chance. Nobody. The only way it would happen, given that you couldn't even win your division, or conference, and had very little in the win column against ranked teams, would be for a totally wild turn of events.

It was what the voters wanted; a rematch. These were clearly the 2 most talented teams. I'd like to see what standard updyke/northalabamacracker/downing would have to say if they came into BR, got out with a win and had to play us a second time. Seems to me like if you beat a great team once, you settled it. Either way, we lost and y'all won. You have the crystal, we have the SEC championship. But don't tell yourself that the national title seat wasn't on the line the first time. By losing bama gave up their ability to place themselves in the game.

What does that even mean? The only seat on the line in the first game was driver's seat in the SEC West.. And Bama never had the ability to "place themselves" in anything.. The other teams lost and there was BAMA..

If bama would have beaten us the first time, they would have had control of putting themselves in the game. Since they lost, it ended up coming down to alot of other teams losing. Therefore they gave up their own control over the road to the title.

Look, I'm just agreeing with the LSU posters in this thread that say that LSU didn't have the heart to get up for the national title game, and think that Bama actually deserved to play a team who had the capacity to get for and actually play a hard fought game.

In 8 qtrs + OT Lsu had one sustained drive. One drive of more than 30 yards. They were dominated in both games. A fluke win in OT was not impressing anyone, thus the coaches and media voted to see if LSU could do it again.

I dont see why they cant see that. Bama had the best offense in the sec and one if the best defenses of all time. Bama wins 9/10 times

Yep, and since this LSU team knew going in that it was over before the ball was kicked off, at least according to their fans that say that they didn't have the heart to get up for the biggest game in the history of LSU, Alabama should of had an opportunity to beat a team that was at the very least more than happy to just be there.

No we did not. From the look of it all LSU had in the hunt was a pussy.
