The football game followed that afternoon with over 5,000 alumni and fans in attendance at Carroll Field. Seniors dressed in their caps and gowns, with the majority of the field awash in green and gold. Baylor won their first homecoming game against Texas Christian University, due mainly to the overwhelming support from the school and community.

Baylor's next homecoming didn't take place until 1915, and it wasn't until 1934 that the celebration became an annual event.

The OP didn't say the Mizzou had the longest running consecutive Homecoming streak...he said "First". Hard to be first if you are 2 years after Baylor.

Annual event...key words. Mizzou created the annual event.

No school can claim that they created the modern day homecoming celebration if their first "homecoming celebration" wasn't intended to be an annual event.

This isn't rocket science.

Debate over (never should've been one to begin with).

Maybe you should have used those key words instead of "First Homecoming".

BTW...with the exception of 1918 (due to the war), Illinois has held homecoming every year since 1910.

Once again...you can't claim the first homecoming if it wasn't intended to be an annual event.

Instead, that should be called a "reunion" or "get together".

However, we can argue this for pages and pages so I end it with...

Mizzou invented homecoming.

Baylor actually used the term "Homecoming" in 1909.

Illinois homecoming has been held every year (with the exception of 1918) since 1910. That would pretty much be an "annual event".

Shut the heck up about Mizzou. Nobody cares.

I want to hear more about Aggie Neo-Nazism. Even the architecture on campus is kinda Nazi Berlin looking. What is the story on all that?

Old found footage from an old Aggie documentary about A&M pre-game traditions:

The hate comes from SEC schools having exceptionally weeks football traditions. They can't handle the fact the new conference member (who identifies more with the Big 10) has more pre-game football traditions than most southern schools.

Hell, the Big 10 has far more history when related to football traditions than the SEC.

No debate.

I look forward to going to Missouri for an SEC game. I haven't made the road trip yet, but plan to next season.
