Ok. A lot of people came out today. Why aren't there any stories about them? Why is he so special?
Those other people weren't SEC Defensive POY.
A lot of people had DWI's today too. If Michael Sam would've had one, it would've been news for the same reason
It's really not that hard to understand

I'm just glad he's not in school anymore because this dude wrecked havoc on us.

aren't you black?
was Jackie Robinson medal worthy?
Being a gay athlete isn't groundbreaking...he's not the first. He won't even be the first in the NFL...
Know who Kerry Rhodes is?

Dont start that shite, being gay is NOT the same thing as being black in the 40s and 50s.

I was responding to someone who said Catholic teaching is OK with homosexuality. I said its unfortunate in my opinion because, as a practicing Catholic, I disagree with the offical stance of the Vatican

Holy shite, take those gay looking pics down

Just saying. It doesn't take very much courage to be yourself as far as this is concerned in today's United States.

I posted scriptures straight out of the bible. Because IM a Christian. That's MY evidence. What can you provide to debunk that? Because I'm not trying to convince you of anything. I have the word to stand on. Bible is undefeated.
Allow me to quote the Super Gay Bible as a counter argument:
quote:
God loves it when two guys kiss each other and cuddle and shite. He deems it super sweet.
Looks like your bible is not so undefeated anymore.

He's cashing in. A slight drop in the NFL draft will be nothing compared to the endorsement opportunities he's going to reap in a few years with the changing perceptions. It's a business move.

You don't see the difference between a random person and someone about to enter the fricking NFL draft?
Sure but I guess some of us have advanced further along on the issue than most so it isn't worth all the hoopla about it. I get that some still have issues with what others do with their lives.

I just wonder why being gay has become medal worthy...why is it news? Why has popular culture pushed the envelope on recognition of homosexuality? Why?
IMO, it's the latter. The only NFL players who have come out waited until they retired.
Michael Sam, by coming out before the NFL draft, will essentially test the waters as an openly gay man in the NFL. He faces a lot of uncertainty regarding how he's going to be treated, but someone had to be first. Hopefully he will be treated normally and other players can be open about their sexual identities if they want.
This is a real issue and I think that if you thought about it from a gay football player's perspective, it might make more sense. Would you want to hide who you really are to avoid the potential problems being gay in the NFL might present?

didn't you say in a thread earlier today your dream job is PR for SEC or NFL? if so id give up on that and focus on something else if you can't see the significance of this announcement

So what, why should anyone need to know? It is no one's business.

Exactly. It's not even remotely close. Yeah someone may call you a name and be mean to you, but anyone that claims gay people face the same discrimination today that black people did before 1970 are fricking idiots.
