I think it's more impressive overcoming the circumstances he was born into and becoming the first college graduate in his family. But I've never been a gay man, much less a gay man whose prominent and in the center of multiple sub cultures where being gay is frowned mightly upon. Being black, a high level football player, and from the deep south... that's a lot of homophobic influences and social pressures.
