I get what Seeek is saying. Last year Nestor was on the staff - a guy who'd been a head coach and who's strength was Xs and Os, and drawing up plays. They wanted him to do more recruiting, and he didn't want the travel at that point in his life. So he left.
This year, they don't have that older guys with that specific skill set on staff, and I think it shows when it gets into clutch time in close games. I'm sure Haith has told Pressey not to take those shots. But, what he has told Pressey to do instead? I think that's where Nestor is missed.

Lol - Haith challenged a UT fan to a fight as he was walking off the court. Someone was taunting him about Shapiro.

I don't believe that! He might have said something back to the heckler, but challenging a fight? I can't see that happening.

You're the crappiest poster of a largely crappy fan base. It's not really up for debate.

Something along the lines of "I'll beat your arse".

Disagree. On almost any 3 pointer at the end of the game that Pressey has taken, there's at least 1 and often 2 other players open. And all of them are better options.

if any of you are ever in Vegas, let me know. I think it would be fun to have a beer.

It doesn't help when you try 3pt when you have an 8pt lead. Thats where this wagon starts losing it's wheels.
Pressey still doesn't understand the word "maintain". The leads they built today were on multiple possessions. Thats how you build leads on a good team like the Vols. Mizzou is not a perimeter shooting team. They have moments but the consistancy is not there enough to depend on it to stretch a lead.
Attack the rim, possession after possession. Put it into the lane and as Haith always tells them to play inside out. Use the shot clock and eat some game clock with the lead.

Haith was asked, why Flip took the shot.
He said, i don't know, I didn't want that shot.
Flip does what Flip wants to do.

On most occasions there is time to work for a better shot too even if no one is open. Haith is now to blame if Pressey pulls this shite in the tourney. He's seen it happen all season. He has NO reason to yell at Pressey again. It's on Haith now to bench Pressey at the end of close games. Pressey will Pressey. Now coach around it.

I would guess that according to score differential, we outscored Tennessee with Phil out.
It was that way in the Kentucky game, too. I think that Haith may need to go to Bell in the end of games. There's simply too much data to do anything else. But he won't. And that's defensible too. It's just sad.
I kind of vacillate between wanting Phil back next year and wanting him gone.

I don't mind having him back next year. Just sit his dumb arse in the last 2 minutes of close games. And personally, I don't see a defense of Haith for NOT doing that. Way too much of a track record to ignore at this point when a loss means you go home. If Haith doesn't, I will lay money right now, that the game we lose will be under a similar situation to today.

How do you coach around Pressey without yanking him from the floor in the final plays? He's been SMA-ish coached his entire life. Street ball mentality. To be honest, it's done him well until its down to the wire.
That being said, him being on the floor has got to be our best shot in most cases. Whether Haith (in whom I have faith) can coach the street ball out of him in the tourney/next year will determine Haith's value in my opinion. Outside of wins and losses. Pressey needs some work to be a good NBA player. As was said in the telecast today, there's a difference between being drafted and being a roster player.
Hopefully Haith can help him for our, and his, sake.

The street ball obviously won't be out of him by tourney time this year. We're there already. I think our best chance of winning games is with Pressey playing the whole game. We wouldn't be in games without him. However, he goes out of control in the last minutes of close games and needs to be put on the bench. Period.
