Great post. I personally haven’t give any thought to expansions other than football. It’s going to be tough on the winter and spring sport athletes.

And when Oklahoma joins we'll touch another state that has a SEC school. Comparing the map of the SEC to the Big 10 is insane.

Makes for a good soundbite, but is this really the point at which you stop and say "whoa, there's a human toll"?

Drink makes millions on a game that spits out kids with lifelong physical injuries, CTE, and a blasted endocrine system (most of the kids are on PEDs).

But the softball team has to make a connecting flight in Dallas, and that's the bridge too far?

If that's your take away, from your own head coach's comment, then you probably think all college athletics should be shut down.

Is this a joke? You can sleep on a bus or a plane.

I myself cannot and I would be willing to wager that there are athletes wary of flying that can't either.

No, I just don't like sanctimonious types.

Worry less about the softball team's connecting flight in Dallas, and worry more about the fact the football team's gone 6-7 the last two years.

What is Mizzou's longest flight? Two hours?

Oregon, USC, etc. will have flights lasting almost 6 hours.

Eventually the fan is going to be the target of networks and espn
Pac 12 looking at deal with apple is actually where college sports is headed when ESPN leaves cable and makes all games pay per view
The cost will be born by the viewers

Please tell me there was a technical reason for why he got a contract extension. He lost to bleeding out Harsin for crying out loud.

Rutgers and Maryland are in no way in the same stratosphere geographically as Oregon, Washington, UCLA, and USC.

okay, so then Eli Drinkwitz is worried about soccer kids at UCLA?

okay, so then Eli Drinkwitz should either shut his virtue signaling pie hole and go coach football at Mizzou, or he should try and move to some job where he pushes public policy for student athletes

College athletics will morph into private leagues populated by clubs affiliated in name only with the universities from which they split off.

Olympic sports that have a high profile professional levels like golf, tennis, T&F will survive. The others will be phased out.

In the future you will be rooting for your school's G-League Ignite.

Well they wanted to make sure our DC Baker would stay and not take another job. So since they gave Baker an extension they gave Drink one too so Baker would feel the school was committed to them both.

Probably can't do better and needed to signal stability to stakeholders and recruits.

So now we're worried about kids who are afraid of flying?

Really?

Can you expound on that?
