Mizzou is a Basketball school. They've had incredible early SEC football success reaching the SEC Championship Game twice and still they don't travel well. This is a troubling long term trend from Mizzou and another reason recruiting will be hard for them.

I'm making my first trip to Athens this season and am very excited about it. Staying in one of the awesome Gameday condos downtown.

I have been to at least one road game every year since 2007 and have done Knoxville, Nashville and College Station respectively since joining the SEC. Couldn't be more pumped for my Athens trip.

You're obsessing on two different threads now:

Oh noes! Someone better get beanheaddawg over here! He's going to light up those non SEC fans in Oxford!

Take a deep breath and slowly step away from the keyboard.

Whatever you do don't think about that mean beantownbulldog guy when you put your head on your pillow tonight.

Everything will be alright when you wake up in the morning and realize that it was only a message board.

Nite nite.

Basically when the realignment wheel stops spinning, America needs to create a Super Missouri Valley Conference, so as to end the constant debates about where Mizzou fits that have raged in the Big 12, the B1G, and the SEC.

The Super Missouri Valley Conference:

East
Iowa
Iowa State
Illinois
Kentucky
Louisville
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
West
Mizzou
Arkansas
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
kansas
Kansas State
Nebraska

All championship games in all sports will rotate between St. Louis and Kansas City.

Genius, no?

This conference would be a dream come true. A perfect fit for Mizzou

Again, bogus assertion is bogus.

Ask a Vandy or Ole Miss fan how well Mizzou travels. We shocked them with the size of our crowds.

Mizzou had big crowds in Knoxville and Gainesville last year, and although I wasn't there, the Mizzou crowd in South Carolina looked pretty damn big to me.

Want to give shite to a school that doesn't travel well? Go give shite to Vandy, a founding member of the league. Now there's a school that doesn't travel....to its home games.

I wonder too how badly Ole Miss' inability to sell out its Auburn allotment is going to hurt the Rebs on the recruiting trail. Lulz.

Plus we could sit around and debate whether a school like Tennessee is a true "cultural fit" for the Super Missouri Valley or not.

MIght I make a small suggestion?

Fly into ATl, stay at an airport area hotel. Buy passage on the airport shuttle early the next morning to Athens- it drops off on the campus. Party all day on campus/ go to game/ stay late as you want, take shuttle back to airport and hop back on the free hotel shuttle. Sleep late. Fly out in the afternoon.

Simple. Airport area hotels will be much cheaper and since you will be getting in late on Friday and sleeping lat eon Sunday, it ain't like you need atmosphere at those times. Can still spend all day and well into night in Athens.

Mizzou has been to Georgia 3 times in the last 2 years, after this year it will be 5 times in 3 years. Ever think maybe people are just sick of making the same fricking road trip?

Thanks for the suggestions and I will do them some day. I live in Austin, Texas so although I go to lots of Mizzou games, any time I want to go to a Mizzou *home* game I have to make time to hop on a plane, then drive 2 hours and back to Columbia as well. So I have to ration my trips per football season.

This year, I'm flying to Columbia MO for the UConn game (lots of friends converging), for the Mississippi State game (got a buddy who's an MSU grad who's coming up), to the BYU game in Kansas City (hanging with my KC peeps) and to the Vandy game in Nashville (I have a history there).

That's four plane trips, several work days I have to take some or all off of in order to make it to the game, and I have a pretty hectic job. Athens will have to wait its turn. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Oh and I've been in Atlanta for the SECCG each of the last two years, so it's not like I haven't made time to go to Georgia when necessary.

Excellent point, TigerCruise. Going to Georgia annually for the SEC Championship plus the every-other-year trip to Athens gets pretty old. I think Mizzou fans would like to try something different like Death Valley or Jordan-Hare.

Or maybe staying at home watching baseball and making excuses for not supporting your football team?

I'm assuming you're going to every UGA road game this year, otherwise your comment is weightless

Can't get tickets. Our allotments aren't large enough.

You could sit with Ole Miss fans in Auburn and root against your rival, fun little trip. Plenty of tickets available.
