The kid had to essentially choose between parents when he made his college decision, I don't envy him in any way.
However, he did sign the letter and there is zero chance we find someone equally as talented to take that scholarship.
Nothing changed on our end, his father, who up until a week or so ago, who he says he has wanted to play for is still employed. So you have to ask yourself "What has changed?" Not difficult to see that Bruce got to Momma Brooks.
As far as the Shaq Wiggins comparison goes, Petrino had the power to block schools, Howland doesn't. State hired the only DC he has ever played for, and his position coach. Petrino's move was extra petty considering the only reason Wiggins ever went to Louisville was to play for Grantham.

You Mississippi state fans got your panties in a wad. I linked the article and said I "heard" that he cried at his announcement, which it turns out he did. No where was I wrong with what I said.
Stop being little bitches. I posted to find out more about this story.

Its a bizzare situation. Garrison's dad, George Brooks is on our staff. Garrison lives with him mom in Auburn, AL. The mom and dad needless to say dont have the best relationship in the world. Supposedly the mom is pissed and telling her son he aint playing for his dad b/c she can't stand him.
Hell, most mother's would feel grateful that their son got the opportunity to no only get a free education playing a sport he loves but is also under the watchful eye of his father as he goes through his college years.

Well of course she'd say all of that. She talked crap about the dad, talks crap about State, claims Garrison is saying something although he hasn't actually told anyone that but he conveniently just told her that, all the while saying this is everyone else's fault but me. If Garrison comes out in an article and is quoted as saying "this is what happened and this is why I don't want to be here anymore" then I'll agree we should give him a release to schools not on our schedule. But until all the hearsay from biased sources is cut out, I'll agree with States decision to hold him to his LOI until everything is sorted out.

Who isn't a biased source here? That's the issue with these types of situations. Sucks for the kid, but you also can't believe everything that comes out against the mom either. Dad is real close to him right now, and has some influence over his playing time at MSU. It's in the kids best interest to not say anything like what you want him to.
Terrible situation. Wish parents wouldn't make their children choose.

Whats wrong with it? If he wants to transfer he can follow proper NCAA protocol.

Brooks is still living with his Mom in Auburn.

And lose a year of eligibility because both of his parents are jackasses. The perfect solution.

Garrison is pretty unbiased. I don't trust anything each parent says. But look at it from States perspective. If we release him it signals that signing a LOI means nothing if you just throw a big enough fit about it. And we can't restrict his school so at the moment its release him to probably another Sec school or don't release him and he goes to Prep school.

She made an issue about Garrison not being a resident of MS, and has never lived in MS.....what the hell does that have to do with where he committed to play ball? She insinuated that Garrison was railroaded into signing with MSU to protect his dad's job, when his dad has been on staff at MSU for years. Something just sounds a little fishy here.

Not really. The kid isn't just "pitching a fit" because he changed his mind for the heck of it. There's extenuating circumstances with his parents, one of whom works for the school in question. That's conflict of interest for MSU. This isn't unprecedented and isn't that different from the Porter kid, except his dad left the original school.

Never dirtier than Auburn, and the history proves it.

If the mom is fine with him going to prep school for a year then I don't see what the big deal is. Just go do that.

One school hasn't been on probation in 25 years, the other just came off probation 1 year ago for the 3rd time in 25 years
