I see four games on State's schedule that the opponent will most likely be a decent favorite and probably overlook the Bulldogs. These are four games I think they have a higher chance of winning than the odds will lead one to believe. State fans, how do you feel about games at UGA, at A&M, at ARK, and LSU? I can see at least 2 wins here.

I can see it, but that doesn't mean it will happen.

Helps that we get LSU @ home early and get A&M after their collapse.

I have been saying for a while now that Merlin is one of the better coaches in the SEC and with Fitz at QB, I think MSU is going to win a couple of games that they will be underdogs in. I would not have a problem with Merlin coaching my team at all (not that I am calling for a replacement).

I really like our chances against TAMU. I think LSU is winnable, could come down to whoever has the ball last. We'll find a way to blow it at Arky. UGA will likely win by 10+.

Any particular reason you feel that way about UGA?

Personally, I need a better idea of the status of States defense before I feel any confidence in predictions. Was Sirmon the entire problem last year? Can Mullen have a middle of the road SEC defense?

I think we'll be favorites against A&M. Lsu will be a close game I think but history isn't on our side. That game with tell us a lot about the rest of the season. Arkansas should also be another good close game. I have no idea about Uga. Depends on which Uga team shows up. If it's the one that ole miss slammed then I think we win. I expect a close game but they'll probably pull it out.

Athens is a tough place to go into as a road dog and come out with a W.

True, most years. Last year they dropped games to TN, Vandy, and GT at home. Richt didn't lose much at home, Smart on the other hand...

True, but Georgia's first 3 games are cupcakes... if we come out guns blazing and aggressive on both sides of the ball we could catch them off guard. We will be coming off LSU so our younger guys will have that experience. I like our chances on the road against Georgia better than i do for LSU at home... personally i think we get a W on both.

Mississippi State should worry about some other games on the schedule to have a decent year. At LaTech, home games with UK and BYU. Those are the "swing" games. I think we will compete at UGA, A&M, Ark, and Auburn, but wins will be tough to get at those places.
The lsu is intriguing. If MSU can stop the run, and the OL will show up ready, there is a chance. Lsu may not have their new offense clicking that early, and that means running the ball. I guess it comes down to most SEC games...the LOS.

It's Fitzy's home state. He's going to want to show out like Dak did at his homecoming party at LSU in 2014. Easier said than done, though.

Tough set of games. I think chances are good that one of them can pull the upset and knock us off.

Interesting comments
La. Tech in Ruston will be tough. No gimme there at all.
LSU at home. We have a chance there.
Road @UGA and AUB. If we split that, I will be happy.
BYU and U.K. at home. Again will be tough but I think we win these two, although one or both may be ugly in the usual State style in these types of games.
@A&M and Arky. Here again a split will be a win in my book.

We have not had a good defense since 2013.
2014 had depth but had some issues and ended the season abysmally against OM and GT.
So I am like others about our D. Have to see them play this year before I am convinced. Although, we can't be any worse this year than 2016 so just having a pulse on D this year will make us better.

I think we have the least experienced O-Line in the league this season. I have very low expectations. But maybe i'll get surprised.

Honestly see State at 8-4. 9-3 at best. This year. Next year should be States year.

Anything is possible but I don't think I can say for certain that will happen.

Too many questions... I just hope we get through it without any major injuries.
