I for one, REFUSE to believe we are as bad as we showed yesterday. Maybe that's blind homerism & maybe what some people consider as a "fan". I'm always going to give my team the benefit of the doubt. But regardless, yesterday was the ONLY thing we have to base our judgement off of for this team. So if we're being completely objective (like i think AMM/ others try to be) there's no way we beat State next week. And our outlook for this season is maybe 6 wins assuming we get better & win some (more) games we shouldnt. I prefer blind faith though, seems more natural to me & makes things funner.
Sue me.
ETA: I still think we can win 8-9 games overall

Glass half full. Glass half empty. We are all looking at the same glass.

The last BCS team that barely beat Utah State and allowed them to rack up 450+ yards went on to win 12 games last year.
They also played in the Big 12.
What concerns me the most is how soft we were in the front 7. I know they are young, and we'll definitely improve that as the season goes along, but I don't think they'll improve quickly enough to beat MSU. If we played MSU later in the season I'd definitely think we could beat them. This team is going to look completely different by the end of the season.
I'm not jumping off any bridges. The only thing I'm pissed about is Roof being such a puss and not letting the defense play man to man. I'm not confident against MSU simply because it's so early in the season and we looked pretty bad. I think we still make a bowl though, 6-6

Where did you see these quotes from Chizik?

I think it may be more like viewing the glass 3/4 empty or 1/4 full right now

247 article. Here's what he said:
quote:
“Yesterday, going into the game, we’d seen a lot of option potentially. With the new freshman (Chuckie Keeton) in there we thought that was something that would be a big part of the plan, which it turned out it was not. With that in mind, there was more of a zone feel to it. We are definitely going to end up playing some man coverage, more than we did yesterday.”

I drank the last if the liquid in the glass, and it tasted like piss.

Well atleast when you lay your head on your pillow at night...you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt...that the glass is empty.

You have every right to be skeptical from what you saw yesterday. I just know from the past these coaches are good at making adjustments
yea, we looked damn soft in our front 7 yesterday. Remember though, that was our first game. Sometimes it takes a game to realize who the true ballers are going to be.
I liked what I saw from Blackson and I believe he'll end up being our best interior player by the end of the year.
All I'm sayin is dont have such a defeatist attitude, we're playing Miss St this weekend, not the Steelers

I would take Auburn +2 in a heartbeat... I love to bet on home dogs.

You're better than that, man. It was also the first game for Bama, Arky, MSU, LSU etc. I understand you are starting a lot of new faces, but you were still starting them against Utah State.
AU will be ok in 2011 (7-5) and really good in 2012 (10-2), but you shouldn't be too hard on people for calling a spade a spade. After all, it isn't like they are your teams version of "BenchMcElroy".

I agree. I liked what I saw from all of the freshmen DTs. I was unimpressed by Whitaker and Carter though, which is discouraging.

I guess you're right. There's a chance we could improve and play a very good game. That was most of our players' first significant PT after all. Maybe they had to get acclimated. I still think MSU will win, but once I think about it I think we'll play alot better

Auburn - the new Barack Obama team. Hope!

Still think it's a little girly to give your own team no shot at beating freaking moo state.
I thought Auburn was Moo State.. nm Auburn is Moo U.
Seriously though - you sound like caller that bets his heart every week and thinks they can "will" their team to win.
I think a realistic person would be skeptical of Auburns chances next week based on last years defense and seeing a continuation of that same crappy defense on the field yesterday.
That doesn't mean they can't win but they don't seem to be making grown up improvements on the defensive side of the ball.

I saw an Auburn team losing the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball against USU.
One undeniable thing I've learned after watching MSU the past few years is if you can't stop the run, MSU can rack up points.
We're going to come out in 4 wide. If you cheat a man into the box, it'll be one on one outside. If you don't it's Relf and a RB running against 6 in the box.
2011 MSU is a carbon copy of Auburn in 2010.

Without the best OL in the nation, the best OC in the nation, and the best player on both sides of the ball in the nation

That was a good one, man. I appreciate that. I needed a good joke to tell at the BBQ tomorrow.
Tell you what, 57stratdawg, I am not even an AU fan, but I'll ban bet you that State doesn't even win the West this year...much less the SEC or the BSCNCG.
