the landscape of college basketball has changed quite a bit since Green, Payne, Kennedy, and Othello played ball

Name one or two that would be a good hire at State

First off, coaching contracts can always be broken and if MSU is willing to pay the right price they could get someone like Mooney at Richmond.

You also have guys like Amaker at Harvard, Sydney Johnson (who was just hired on at Fairfield after coaching Princeton to the NCAA tournament), or even someone like Pastner at Memphis is you package the offer just right.

Those are just off the top of my head.

Okay so I got a little carried away. But the other guys are certainly feasible.

You have to be on crack to believe Pastner would leave Memphis for Mississippi State. I really lime Pastner, but the Memphis job is far better than the MSU job.

Tommy Ammacker from Harvard to Starkville talk about culture shock. I don't think this would happen

Sydney Johnson is a good coach but runs the Princeton system. I don't see that working at State, our players don't fit into that offense. Plus Johnson cries when his team loses. He'd take the State job but I think he'd be a bad fit.

Chris Mooney I like, but he also runs a version of the Princeton offense and it would take 2 or 3 years to bring in players to fit his offense. I'm not sure if he would take the State job. He turned down Ga. Tech and NC State this year.

If you're worried about culture shock in Starkville, then you're right you should just stick with Stansbury.

I am sticking with Stans and believe that he gets the job done this year. NCAAs or bust.

Head Basketball Coach at Mississippi State University. Most fans expect us to make the NCAAs and would love to make the sweet 16 and contend for a SEC championship.

Winning the West doesn't even get you to the Tourny these days. Gonna have to go independent in BBall

with the money we have spent getting players, anything less than a Sweet 16 appearance and this season will be considered a failure by most fans. An NCAA appearance will keep his job for him, but the expectations by everyone are more than that.

Right. Remember last year when you didn't wanna fire Stansbury? Well, we could have, and we could have gotten Kennedy before A&M. Now I want you to remember that and watch what happens at A&M over the next few years and remember that that could be us.

This is why I can't stand watching us play. We ran princeton's offense in high school and that was just one of our offenses, and that doesn't include set plays. Stansbury doesn't have even one offense.
