God I hope not. Triple option teams are so fricking annoying to play. They hardly ever win against good teams, but it’s usually a rough time for the first couple quarters or so till the defense figures it out. Plus you can expect injuries from cut blocks.

Yeah but it's a shift from what everyone else is doing it's just a matter of time before someone adopts something similar to it to take advantage of the changing defenses

We could go look at the UGA board after the LSU game for plenty of that as well

People wanted to get rid of Lanning? Like who?

If you're talking about lots of folks have been bitching about em since the begining of the season.

I don't recall anyone getting pissy about CTG when he first started.

Here’s my two cents:

MSU was moderately successful when Mullen brought in the spread option. At the time, only about 3/4 teams in the league ran it, maybe less.

We were able to move the football with lesser talent because we would spread field and exploit mismatches.

Fast forward to now. 10 or so teams run a spread....with LSU Bama and Florida able to put up big numbers.

To stop a 5star WR, you need 5star Dbs.
MSU will never recruit enough DBs or WRs to compete with Bamer or LSU, as long as they spread it.

We can’t fight fire with fire. We will have to fight fire with Ice. I say, bring on the Wishbone/triple option. Honestly, what do we have to lose?

You'll lose what few scant Recruits are considering Miss State

You'll lose a lot of time if you invest 4 years recruiting low rated garbage azz Tripl-Oh Offensive Recruits you'll have to re make your Roster when the next HC comes in

Also the Tripl-Oh guy has to inherit a good amount of Talent to get off to a decent start

Stay away from gimmicky garbage Tripl-Oh FB

We invented the wishbone. We are allowed to run it.

Seriously, I want to recruit 4 RBs a year, let the one who can throw best, play Upback....and hit you with the Notre Dame Box.

Emory Bellard invented it while the OC at Texas. He then took to A&M as head coach. He then brought it State.

Good thing if State does run the triple... 75% (maybe higher) of Mississippi high schools run either the flexbone/wishbone/wing-t

This was true about 20 years back. And at that point I would put it at like 95%. More teams are running spreads and shotgun based offenses than ever before. Even South Panola, to an extent.

The triple option is a great scheme, and I love to watch it. But rules changes have made passing offenses more desirable. QB and WRs are so protected that it’s easier than ever to throw it around.

However, It is a big advantage that EVERYBODY throws it around now, so an option offense is a pretty tough one week prep.
