He couldn't run the style of offense Saban wanted and Saban wasn't retooling his entire offensive philosophy for one QB. So he tried to develop him into something he was not good at and the best he could do was be inconsistently decent at passing the ball. I could only imagine how bad he would have been if it weren't for his running.

Certainly possible.

I probably don't really want to know, but I can't wait until the book eventually comes out and we actually hear what went on behind the scenes over the past two years.

I've heard so many rumors about players and what they were doing/going through I don't know what to believe.

But both Saban and DeBoer essentially benched his arse across two seasons and two staffs, so that seems more on him, I guess.

I know rumors are just rumors until verified.

But the "alleged" team threats with Milroe not being the starter, etc, are wild to hear.

I'm sure there was a collective sigh of relief once he announced he was declaring for the draft.

I know I did...

How does it stack up with receivers, his eventual position?

Rumors are that Velus Jones Jr. broke into tears realizing that he'd soon be out of a job.

Yeah, no, I mean things that he was dealing with personally throughout the season.

Still no excuse, because he could've just as easily taken some personal time rather than dragging his stuff onto the field.

(That is, not a playing a game or two this season probably would've helped both him and the team.)

4.42. Add 5 hundreths since it's not an official time.

He's fast. He isn't a qb. He should have played a different position in college.

I was watching SEC network we he ran. The time on the field that the SECN reported by the scouts was 4.46. Bama reported later it was 4.37. SECN guys even joked about not believing the time reported by BAMA. That being said 4.46 is still hauling arse.

Milroe has made some plays.

Positive and negative like many college QBs.

He throws a nice deep ball at times.
He’s mobile.

I don’t think he’s a first round pick.

He had tremendous talent and great moments ar QB.

I'm left unconvinced if he had the processing speed to be an excellent college QB.

If he was the choice under both Saban and DeBoer, I was disappointed in both years that the offense didn't develop around the talent. They both seemed intent on forcing the talent to meet the offense.

When he couldn't, why not make a change. Saban did it with Hurts. It was a sign when he didn't force that for Milroe. Although, he did bench him vs USF to try and signal he was the best option available. But, still, nothing showed and adjustment to the best talent. Play to the strengths of the talent available is a first principle. Don't try to force them to be something they aren't.

Honestly, outside of Raw speed and athleticism, he was forced into a box that made him play like the least talented QB since JPW (second toughest only to Coker in CNS era).

Genuinely think McCarron would have been a CFB HoF player had he played in a Kiffin and Sark era. Milroe would have been a Heisman player under the same.
