Arkansas is making a conscious effort to reject it's own residents and start siphoning off DFW suburbanites just like Oklahoma did 20 years ago. Both were good moves for each respective University. You can't be a part of the Lone Star State so you do as much as you can to be like us.

Wrong.

It's called the Arkansas Lottery. Universities across the entire state have large increases of in-state students. Our Texas kids percentage hasn't changed since the 1970's just the population of the student body has.

You have a share of that market but don't act like it's all yours. Memphis and UT also have a share of it. And despite a lot of Memphis kids going to OM because it's close to home, Memphis still has a huge UT fan base and always has.

Tech/tu/A&M/Oklahoma are 1-4 I assume?

If I had to rank it, since I have been in DFW since 1998. This is based off living in the North Dallas and Collin County areas

1. Texas A&M - I just seem to have always been around these fans. Civil Engineering and IT are the occupational circles the wife and I are in though, so that might be a factor. This is also based off neighbors, car decals and general annoyance that is Aggie.

2. Oklahoma - All those kids that are not top 10% like to go there and then they come back to DFW to live.

3. Texas Tech - I work with an abnormal amount of Tech grads and see several Tech decals on the work trucks around here. It was annoying during Leach days after he beat us twice, but then the 2009 Cotton Bowl came. It has been very quiet since.

4. Texas (Austin) - They are supposed to be the big dogs of the state, I just do not know where they live. I work with one sidewalk fan, wife worked with a grad once and had a neighbor once. That is it. Maybe they stay down in Austin and keep it weird.

We still have OSU, Baylor, TCU, SMU as well. UNT and Collin County Community College probably have a larger alumni base here than Arkansas.

You just see more OM fans because they have more to cheer about.

Arkansas has double the viewership in our own state than Mississippi and double the money.

Portion of Dallas > Portion of Memphis for icing.

Just facts.

No one is denying that Memphis and UT are huge part of Memphis. Tons of Memphis fans around, but honestly I remember way more UT fans around a decade or so ago. If I were a UT fan I would live in Nashville or Knoxville over Memphis.

This is true. Dooley made us all want to crawl in a hole and die. People are finally getting their optimism back even though we know it will be a hard year next year. OM has been on a good run and I for one am happy for y'all.

Someone doesn't get it. It's not just about Alumni. The entire state of Arkansas are Razorback fans unlike Mississippi and we border Texas which hold a shitload of our fans, to which is one of the largest cities in the country and why they work there and not Memphis for the vast majority.

You think little ole Arkansas with only 3 million population could break $100 million without a massive following and donations. Short answer: Hell no.

We used to be a little school like Ole Miss we are not anymore. Expansion and student body increases will only give us more millions.

Missouri, while not a bad addition to the conference, just seems forced. NC State or VaTech seemed like much better options. I really hope another round of expansion doesn't happen. Scheduling is already an issue and the conference is already starting to feel diluted.

Just be glad your the only show in town.. and btw our second biggest alumni base is DFW after Memphis. IHL in our state sucks, and when you have to share everything it limits both MSU and OM. I will tell you this though. Come fall there will be Saturdays with 120k+ people watching SEC football in Mississippi, not bad for a little landmass in-between Louisiana and Alabama.

I have no clue what this means.
But collegiate athletics is going to get bigger & bigger, not smaller.
Slive went on the offensive, rather than wait for the crumbs.
And I'd bet he's not done.
Missouri may seem forced to you, but they were a good, contiguous get.
I agree with you that North Carolina and Virginia are the obvious next moves.

Not trying to brush-off your point, but that's not saying much.
Many southern schools have large alumni bases in Texas--we're huge.
I believe Houston is one of LSU's top two bases, for example.

This Arky guy has diarrhea of the mouth talking about how DFW is like some type of extension branch of the University of Arkansas. DFW has lots alumni bases/groups, lots and lots, I bet even USF. Arkansas is no different, just a little closer than some. Arkansas does not have more tv viewers than MS.

That is because you have two in the SEC. If Arkansas State was getting SEC money like your little brother we'd be the exact same. I assume you mean in the stadiums.

Thank Goodness Frank Broyles saw what was happening at Ole Miss and MSU and decide to never play ASU to give them the same footing y'all gave to MSU. However, it did cause a divide between where games would be played in our state that still isn't corrected!

Bianchi just try to stir S*** and get some clicks.

We all know that there is an alliance which ensures there is no addition of SEC schools in a state that already has a team.

That isn't hurting the SEC either. Even Austin, Texas gets huge ratings for A&M games.
