On NIL…LSU Baseball coach Jay Johnson said one of the players earned so much money that the dad of the player called him and said he would give Johnson back the scholarship

Baseball is scholarship limited. Football is not.

11.7 schollies for a team of 27 is a lot rougher than 85 full scholarships for 105 openings.

It's certainly conceivable that the best and most highly NIL compensated players in CFB are the walkons in the not-too distant future. Pay cash for school out of the NIL money and let the program use the scholarship for additional depth where it's needed.

NIL will be big for SEC baseball programs. With the 11.7 scholarships, a lot of the big baseball schools won’t have to worry about that anymore.

Only 27 can be getting scholarship money... so i kinda butchered my comparison by not saying that part.

I personally think any NIL deal over $100,000 should require the player to pay their own way minus meals and housing.

I agree...if a player is using the school for its NIL money..why should the school be providing the player with scholarships? With NIL and transfer portal free agency allowing players to chase the dollar, why should a school be obligated? I see NFL style contracts coming.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some boosters offer to pay tuition on top of a NIL deal to allow for more scholarships...adding more and more depth
