Neither Alabama nor Michigan have a recruiting presence in Texas.

GMac is from Texas, as is a few other key players on our team.

Michigan will be the nominal home team (important mostly for TV rights) and receive more money.

I'm still trying to figure this one out. Why would we agree to a game where we'll be getting less money?

I'm not a huge fan of neutral site games. I think it is much better for college football to have the home and homes. Let Bama fans get a taste of a Michigan tailgate and vice versa.

However, this makes tons of sense for the following reasons:

1. Financially it is a ratings heaven. Alabama and Michigan are top 5 traditional programs with huge national interest.

2. Both schools get to tell Texas recruits they will play a game there and that their family can come watch.

3. You can tell recruits from any state that you will play Michigan/Bama in the world's most luxurious stadium. How could you not want the chance to play in Jerry World.

4. It is a huge grudge match. The 2000 Orange Bowl was won by Tom Brady's Michigan over Alabama by an overtime missed extra point by Bama.

So far that Michigan Blog is the only place posting it. Nothing on any other Michigan or Bama sites, other than message boards, that quote the original post.

I was 11 at the time of that game and I will admit that I cried myself to sleep that night.

Tom Brady was a beast of a QB. Hopefully, there will come a day when we have a QB of that caliber.

Why does it matter as long as we're winning championships?

It's way more fun to watch a Manning/Stafford, etc than a Barker/McElroy.

From all indications, McCarron should be pretty damn good, our first with NFL potential since Brodie.

I'd rather win MNCs with the Tommie Fraziers, Vince Youngs, Tim Tebows and Matt Leinarts of the world than with QBs like G-Mac, Jay Barker, Matt Mauck and Craig Krenzel. I'd like to see some beautiful, flowing offense and not waste a talent like Julio Jones for once.

Bama's won more NC's because of the team concept than the flash in the pan once a decade player that other teams have won them with. You're free to jump on the Mallett bandwagon if you like. There's some flash.

If this happens I'll absolutely be there. I've been hoping we'd do an OOC game against somebody in Jerry World, because I've wanted a good excuse to go see the stadium...make the team a historical power like Michigan, and its a no-brainer.
