I would probably take Meyer over Saban.
Posted on 1/26/09 at 10:26 pm to ShreveportBama
i definitely would not. i've never wanted my team to look like a team as bad as I wanted US to look like LSU when he was their coach. they hit so hard that every single play i was actually concerned that we'd suffer injuries.
they played with something inside of them that I've never seen any team EVER play with. not even USC in the last decade.
there was something to those LSU teams. i haven't seen it in our guys yet, but everything revolves around the SORT of guys he recruits over the next few years. their 4/5 star rating doesn't mean jack if they don't have that absolutely nightmarish and SAVAGE mentality that those previous LSU teams had.
i want Bama to look like THAT. and I DEFINITELY don't think Meyer can get his boys to look like that.
Saban > Meyer imo

I'm glad the LSU faithful see him as a good coach. He's a good coach because he's coaching at LSU. Urban Meyer is a great coach. And I don't think Les is a close 2nd to Urban. As a matter of fact, I don't think Les is even the 2nd best coach in the SEC.
Sorry to you Corndogs who will spaz over me saying that. I know how much it irks you to hear about how utterly overrated your Corndog leader is
What is this guy doing here

let miles get his recruits settled in and we will see. both coaches are good who's the best who knows and who cares as long as they win why should you care.thats all the fans ask for isn't it.

Gimme either. I love Meyer's offensive innovation and I love Miles hard nosed "old school" style. Saban, Miles and I belive Lane Kiffin, will build very similar "traditional" type teams dependant on defense and strong running games. This will be in direct contrast to Meyer's more modern and pretty "spread" based offenses....although because of talent in the state of Fla....Meyer will also always feature a great defense. The SEC is too tough for any one team to dominate as Bama did in the 70's and Fla in the 90's.
The championships will cycle through the usual 5 or six teams (Ala, LSU, Fla, Tenn, GA) and as always will depend on luck with injuries and luck with the schedule falling just right and luck with a couple of recruiting classes panning out a little better than normal.
You never know when a "Tim Tebow" or "Hershel Walker" or a "BO Jackson" is gonna appear on the roster of some SEC team and skew things their way for 2 or 3 years. Just the nature and history of the beast.

meyer the same as stoops and carroll give me a break. stoops looks good when he beats down a team that is already beat. if running up the score makes you a good coach then he is in a class by his self. carroll gets the #1 recruiting class in the country and never lower than #4 every year and he plays in a weak conference which used to be strong years ago but over the last decade its been weak and he continues to get beat by teams that he is favored to win by 4 td's. yet it never fails every year they wine on how they should be #1 in the country and could beat any team in the country. stoops shouldn't have even been in the nc game it should have been texas who almost got beat by ohio. carroll continues to blow the little games every year. meyer's struggled last year when lsu won the nc and lsu struggled this year when fla. won the nc. so meyer's and miles are more closer to being the same caliber coaches than stoops and carroll are to meyer.

Seriously? I would take Urban Meyer even if he had a 1/3 of his IQ in comparison to "The Hat"
What a joke. Urban Meyer should be compared to Pete Carroll or Bob Stoops. "The Hat" shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence on the same day as Urban Meyer.
You should have been aborted, you retard.

Miles is not in the same league as meyer as far a game scheming goes. I will say miles can take great athletes and equip them with the attitude to win.

I bet you Crowton could offensively outscheme Meyer on offense any day of the week.

The main thing Meyer has over Miles IMO is his presentation, especially with regard to the media.
Overall, I would say they are about equal.

Tough to really compare them. What adversity has Meyer faced at talent-rich UF with a record setting Heisman winner at QB and Harvin? Let's see what each of them do over the next 3-5 years. I suspect Miles would have won 2 NCs at Florida also if he has the same players Meyer has had.

Is everyone forgetting FLORIDA WENT 8-4 TWO YEARS AGO WITH THE frickING HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER BREAKING NCAA FOOTBALL RECORDS!!!. Everyone has a down year and Miles and Myer are 2-2 head to head. Once Tebow leaves Myer will start earning his paycheck, that is if CUM doesn't bolt to ND. Anyone who honestly thinks Miles is a "dumb coach" is someone who will NEVER give Miles any credit.

I thought this was resolved...
Miles came into a winning program that Saban left him with a 75 percent winning record.
(48-16)
Ron Zook left UF with a 49 percent winning record.
(23-14)
Head 2 head...
2005 LSU won 21-17 Won by <1 TD
2006 LSU humiliated by tebow (10-23)
2007 LSU squeaked by 28-24 Won by <1 TD
2008 LSU humiliated by tebow (51-21*Les miles also had a bye week to prepare for this game
Final comparison:
Performance against OHIO state...
2006 NC Game. Florida 41-14
2007 NC Game. LSU won 38-24
