I don't really follow College Baseball, but adding metal bats seems like candy-coating an already unnecessary sport in the SEC.

Doesn't the MLB have a rule for this specifically? Also, don't they have their own system to wean out the "weaker" players instead of going through the Collegiate Route? Minor Systems or something?

Aren't there more deserving sports to be had in the SEC? Seems like a waste of money.

Well the bats now are basically aluminum wooden bats. Also these guys hit wood bats all the time like in summer ball and stuff. They know how to use a wooden bat whenever they get drafted

What does that mean?

Why post a statement with literally no facts, body of argument, or ending conclusion?

"This ain't it chief" really says nothing.

Why post ANYTHING at all, then?

You said there were more deserving sports in the sec than college baseball. That is not true in the slightest.

Thank you for the logical response.

MLB vs. SEC Baseball seems miles ahead in this regard.

Those guys are beasts after going to a Braves Game.

You can really tell a difference. Thank you so much for an explanation. Best regards!

Umm... yea you only use wooden bats in the MLB. Not sure how using metal bats in college is “candy coating” it. College baseball and MLB are very different games and personally I prefer college baseball.

So, why not switch to wood, if if everyone with a swing could put a ball into play?

Seems amateurish.

Oh no doubt. The difference between college baseball and rookie ball or single A is insane. I’ve heard stories from college baseball players who got drafted and quit after 3 days because it was so hard that they just couldn’t do it

99.999% of college baseball programs couldn’t afford to outfit the team with quality wooden bats.

You’re talking about $30,000+ per year, every year.

Because maybe (just maybe) not everyone in collegiate sports isn’t good enough to play professionally. With your logic maybe the National Title in golf should be held in Agusta. It’s college baseball. Not everyone is going to look like Mike Trout and Yelich out there.

A quality wooden bat costs between $150-$200 and will last 10 games, if a player is lucky. This is games only and doesn’t include practice.

The bats they use now coat $300-$400 and they will use 1 or 2 for an entire season. Sometimes longer.

You do the math.

So, how much do wooden bats fetch you in 2019?

Jesus.

Here is OP commending Miss State on their ballpark and all around not saying anything bad about college baseball

Troll.

Quality ballpark and so many people showing up for a baseball game.

Very intimidating. Congrats!

Keep doing whatever you are doing there. It made the difference today especially with your fans. Nice atmosphere.

I remember the days when you could hang out in the left field lounge and hit Penns on the way out for half price chicken on a stick. Glorious.

Yes sir! That is College Baseball in a nutshell.
